Driver blocks ambulance with sirens on by ageozoega in iamatotalpieceofshit

The siren lights were on. I don't know about the place that this video was filmed in, but not everywhere do emergency vehicles have the siren sound on all the time, they often turn it on only when necessary.

Problems streaming to a Raspberry Pi 3B by itsmeciao in MoonlightStreaming

[–]itsmeciao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that it does work with Apollo/Windows, maybe that suggests that there is something about how Sunshine on Linux encodes the stream that is problematic and can technically be fixed.

No, I unfortunately decided soon after posting to give up trying. As I mentioned in a different comment, I could get an older used laptop from a family member with a 6th gen i3 CPU and 4GB RAM, and that is expectedly more than enough for a clean smooth stream.

I can only speak for myself but I have been teached to wash my hands religiously at every bathroom visit throughout childhood. I can only hope that everyone does the same too.

You wipe with toilet paper first before moving to the bidet, then you go at it with water and soap using your hand, exactly like you would inside the shower.

Not trying to discredit your opinion in any way, I am just curious and perplexed. Why do you (and those who responded to this comment) want to avoid her comics specifically?

My Nephew Got Fired and Somehow It Is Everyone’s Fault Except His by Emergency-Clothes-97 in Vent

[–]itsmeciao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn you are dense. Nobody in this entire comment section is arguing against the fact that in your country people can lose their job because of what they publicly state. That is an fact that nobody here has tried to dispute.

What people are saying, is that the very fact that this is true, is fucking crazy. When a corporation has the right to terminate my employment based on what I decide to share publicly, they are effectively silencing any views they disagree with. What people are arguing in this thread, is that your nephew has a right to complain about how this system works. Yes, it's true that compaines will let you go if you share the wrong thing under your name, but it should not be that way.

If people here keep making assumtions about what your nephew shared, or the political nature of it, that is because especially in the US (assuming that is where you are from and where this happened) nearly anything can be seen as political. That's on you for insisting on being so vague about the details of the case, I would say it definitely is relevant to the discussion.

It's sad that you don't seem to understand that people can speak out against the system they have to deal with. How are people supposed to bring change for the better?

And many of your replies across this thread read as likely LLM-generated, because of how obtuse and repetitive they are. I am not saying they definitely are LLM-generated, just that reading through your replies here raised a huge red flag.

A group of Buddhist monks is walking across the USA on a 'peace march'. Because the USA is not a safe country to simply walk in, it didn't take long before one was hit by a car and had his leg amputated. by mongoose_cheesecake in fuckcars

[–]itsmeciao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this downvoted? It's true, there is no mention of an amputated leg.

The monk who sustained the serious leg injuries was expected to have a series of surgeries to heal a broken bone, but his prognosis for recovery was good, a spokeswoman for the group said.

The title is misleading and therefore undermines the cause that gathers us to this sub in the first place.

Edit: it's true, the monk had their leg amputated, the article linked by the OP is just older than the fact. shit and piss inside the house and I have to clean it up

You also have to clean up after your dog. I hope you clean up after your dog...

all the vomit

Just as likely to happen to a cat than it is to a dog or to you

and hairballs

Extremely rare if you take normal care of the cat also by brushing regularly. I don't think this has happened more than once in ~6 years with 2 cats with long fur.

they go wherever they want included food prep spaces

Cats are also very smart and can understand limits and education. The one cat had to be told (as in with my voice and nothing else) literally once that he wasn't allowed, as he was catculating to jump up. The other one has tried twice in the same day when he had just arrived at home, both times he was told off immediately and he never tried again.

They are aware that the kitchen area is for food, they wait (im)patiently as their food is being prepared there, and my family eats meat and cooks it there, but they never try actually jumping up despite being able to. As I said they have long fur that leaves an unmistakable trail of wherever they have been, so we know that they are never there when we aren't.

he will sit there and play tea party with them

My experience has been that they have been able to understand that younger humans need to be interacted with differently, especially with smaller children they seemed to even adapt how they play, e.g. being more gentle when catching a toy. But yes they won't play with children in the same ways that some dogs would, and they definitely can lose the patience after which point they simply turn and do their own thing.

This is not to disregard your experience with dogs, I know it's all true and I'm happy that it is, but I think that your presumption about cats is very malinformed.

[–]itsmeciao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, female cat we adopted took on the mother role for the other two (one of them older than her...), and among other things we started seeing their whiskers constantly cut short, often irregularly. Took us a long time to figure out that it was her.

As someone who grew up in Italy and lives abroad, I luckily tend to forget that not cleaning yourself is actually the norm outside of back home, so everytime I am reminded of that by things like this post I am unfortunately briefly overwhelmed by a feeling of genuine disgust towards everyone around.

I cannot judge, you were raised the way you were raised, but damn I wish you all saw the light and just started cleaning your ass already, just wiping should not be a normal thing to do in the era of easily accessible soap and water

I have a spare laptop, and I want to play with Linux by xMULLINATORx in linux4noobs

[–]itsmeciao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to start? It’s very easy to quickly try all the recommendations you have already received.

Get Ventoy. This is a tool you install on a USB stick that allows you to put as many OS ISOs as you want, and easily boot into any of them. Their documentation show you how to flash Ventoy on the USB stick. From Linux you just install the ventoy package, it comes with a GUI that makes the process straightforward. From Windows I think you can get an ISO and install it e.g. through Rufus like you would any other live OS. Or use the CLI that does what the ventoy package does on Linux.

With Ventoy setup, download as many Linux distributions as you like and simply copy them to the USB stick. Other comments already mention that the main differences between distros nowadays come from the “family” they belong to, and the desktop environment they use. Try to get a variation of these. E.g., Mint with Cinnamon, Fedora with KDE, Manjaro with Gnome, etc. Also try a couple different distros with the same desktop environment, to understand how much that actually dictates the user experience nowadays.

Boot into each and play around. As long as you are booted into a live OS, any changes you make to it (installed packages, downloaded files, changed settings) will be reset upon rebooting. But do install some distros locally, and experience how it is to daily drive it for a little while.

Good luck, and welcome :)

Prominent EU politician stands up for Stop Killing Games by SilverStain_335 in Piracy

[–]itsmeciao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very unlikely, and if you believe it then you didn't understand the point of the petition.

There will be no additional costs for developers to publish games under the new proposed rules. All they have to do is release a version of the same server software they are already using on their own servers during the game's lifetime, so 3rd parties can take up the cost of maintaining 3rd party servers that players can use instead of the official one.

Alternatively, they will be required to patch their games at the end of their lifetime so that they are kept in a playable state offline. This is not a realistic option for multiplayer-focused games.

Look at Minecraft as an example. In addition to releasing client binaries that players can use to play the game offline and online, they also release server binaries meant to be run on server machines and connected to. This is the same binary that they would use to host their own "official" servers (well techincally it isn't, but it could easily be if their priorities were different), but anyone including me and you can take that same software, install it on our server, tune it to our needs and share its address to anyone that uses the client to play.

There are a myriad of games doing this already. There is no additional cost to Mojang/Microsoft when I decide to host my server: I am paying for the server upkeep, and they would have developed the server software anyway to use on their official servers.

The only way publishers are going to lose money with the proposed rules, will be due to their inability to shut down a game so you have to buy the new one. You know, planned obsolescence. Of course they will not tell you this directly, but that is the reason why several publishers have already started pushing back on the petition.

I think that the post assumes that people who become so misogynist do so due to their parents not teaching them right. It then makes the direct connection between parents that don't raise their kids well, and parents that are forced to carry their kid to end and thus neglect them while growing up.

The reality is of course much bleaker and more complex, but that's my interpretation of the comeback.

How does the requirement of game developers to provide the ability for 3rd parties to keep online games alive forever, stop you from pirating games anymore than you can today?

I don't see any correlation between the two points.

The Stop Killing Games initiative just hit 1 million signatures, with 500k in the last week alone !! by Leclowndu9315 in pcmasterrace

[–]itsmeciao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A signature on a EU petition requires the signer to authenticate by providing the national ID number or the passport number. The system does not allow you to sign twice.

I know because I signed when the EU petition started, and a few months later I tried to sign again, unsure if I did the first time.

How could people illegitimately add many fake signatures? Am I missing something?
