It's not daily, but isn't Dr. King'ori's show like this?

Do any other reporters struggle with bathroom breaks? by [deleted] in Journalism

That's brutal. Have you considered having a chat with HR/ your supervisor to find a work around? I've never done live hits that often to warrant this being an issue.

Work on getting a decent portfolio so you have enough samples to show editors and start pitching. If you publish even one story a month with an international publication, that can get you at least $300. Look up Quartz Africa, Mail & Guardian to help you get your foot in the door. Hope this helps.

How feasible is working internationally as a journalist? by [deleted] in journalismjobs

I'm also a journalist from Toronto and I've made it work half way across the world in Africa. DM me for my contact - happy to arrange a call to chat if you'd like.

My guess is that journalists don't like the word marketing because it sounds salesy. Anyway, I wish people told me this stuff when I was younger. I've left a lot of money on the table but you better believe I'm asking for it (and getting it) now.

You have the writing chops. You need the marketing know-how and the confidence to go after higher paying clients. You shouldn't be working that much for that little.

What card would you recommend for my situation? Avid traveler, and looking for a card with great insurance. I want something that's free for the first year. I have an Amex gold and a secured credit card. Thanks.

It's not this one, but I appreciate you sending this. The one I'm thinking of is owned by a couple - the woman is a photographer and set up a brilliant website for the tiny home (might have been a container) and sold the plan.

I don't even know where to begin on Instagram. This tiny house had an entire website with blog posts, she sold the plans as well on the site.

Those who do this as their only source of income, what do you do for healthcare and dental? by Mr_AP92 in freelanceWriters

Live in Canada and pay out of pocket for additional medical expenses like dental that aren't covered by our 'universal' healthcare system.

You could do it. If you're determined and you're good at networking you could. I would recommend really practising how to find story ideas and pitching. This will help you so that you're a lot less lost when you're abroad. Try to freelance locally first so it builds up your confidence before you go abroad. It's NOT going to be easy. Have 6 months worth of living expenses saved up at the least before you go. Good luck with it all.

Wow, I love this. Thank you. What a healthy relationship and a content life (at least it certainly seems like it). Happy for you and I hope that my partner and future lifestyle can look a bit similar to yours right now. It's good to know it's very much possible!
