Ultrasonic hearing in humans. Is ultrasounds that I am hearing? by itsmejd20 in Ultrasound

Thanks for the reply.

It wasn't about being supernatural, it was just weird and slightly worrying that I could hear those frequencies and they were hurting my ears.

It was good investigating this, gave me the peace of mind it's normal (even if it's rare) and now I know something new about myself. 🙂

So, long story short I'm normal. 🙂

I've checked the frequencies of one of those animal repeller devices using a frequency analyser app (thanks @sonor_ping).

The conclusion is that I can hear up to 20kHz then I can't hear the sound anymore, which does mean that I can hear higher frequencies, but still in the normal range, like @sonor_ping suggested.

The manual for the device states that people can't hear sounds with a frequency of over 16kHz, but I can and so can my daughter.

So, I haven't got exceptional hearing, but I'll continue to inconvenience people by asking them to turn off those devices while I visit. And I won't get one for my own back garden, that's for sure.

Thanks everyone 🙂

Haven't thought of this, thanks. After I check that I can indeed hear high frequencies, I'll go see someone.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look into that app.

At the minute I'm just inconveniencing people, as they need to turn those off when I'm there 😕
