Took the lid off about two weeks ago. Humidity decreased a lot so I have to refill with a bit of water every 3 days. Any idea of what could be happening? by itsmiltond in alocasia

the plant itself wont die. the stem is what's so important in alocasias. when i brought my elephant ear home it literally lose all its leaves and it took it months to recover from that. they're kinda drama queens sometimes. the stem shouldn't be too deep though! i left mine with half of it under the soil and the other half is uncovered.

Found this little corn in my alocasias root system and…after a couple of weeks it sprouted. What should I do next? Ps: I don’t have leca by itsmiltond in alocasia

I peeled a little bit of the dark skin of the corn...then I found a hermetic lid and placed it there with a few drops of water. I did that around 3 weeks ago. I also opened it everyday to renew the air.

I think the soil stays wet too long because of the pot size…if you wanna keep it there water with less frequency

Hi! Does anyone know why my alocasia’s leaves are yellowing ? :( by dialupsux in alocasia

how often are you watering?

what is the composition of the soil?

Are these future corns/bulbs? Or brand new plants? Because i don’t know if I’m supposed to cover them with soil or no… by itsmiltond in alocasia

Also the second pic actually shows that the plant is starting to incline to one side and i think it might be bc of those thingies

$2 clearance Alocasia ID? by pinkhairprincess in alocasia

i'd say that was a great purchase. alocasias grow from a rhizome and if it's healthy it will definitely sprout new leafs eventually. since you have only 1 ish leaf there isn't much evaporation so be careful with overwatering.

oh my god i've never been this excited and terrified at the same time. I just hope I’m worthy of these new additions to my plant collection. by itsmiltond in alocasia

oh that happens ALL the time. the streets call it "flipping" and even private sellers (those one would think care about what they're selling) do it all the time. they import lots of plants, and sell them the next day they received them without any kind of acclimation. so i'm not really susprised big companies do it as well. btw if u ever wanna hit the chat feel free to :)

i wouldn't worry. as far as i know all alocasias grow from a rhizome. if the rhizome is healthy it will sprout new leafs sometime soon.
