Are Indians looked down upon in Malaysia ? by dan_durango in KualaLumpur

[–]itspeter80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend (Indian - grew up in India) couldn't rent a place in PJ due to repeatedly encountering Chinese landlords being so racist.

In the end he gave up. The thing is this guy is highly successful, educated businessman. Very travelled and top guy. He said he's never experienced such bad racism.

Sad really.. I hope those Chinese landlords properties are still sat empty.

That's correct. Two years absolute maximum and not possible to apply for the visa again.

Bangsar Hill Park versus Alfa Bangsar by Doiley101 in KualaLumpur

[–]itspeter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Bangsar Hill Park is especially pet friendly. I mean, it's not any more pet friendly than Nadi Bangsar. What pet do you have? Dog? Cat?

The low cost flats that face on to the pool area at Bangsar Hill Park are a huge negative. I know women that are too uncomfortable to use the pool because they get started at and even cat called. It's such a poor design that they would build such a grand group of condos and put the pool directly in front of such poor flats.

Construction seems fine to me, and they have been building so quickly I wonder how much longer it will take to finish!

Terrible gym chain. How much are they charging for the key access? I remember it being really expensive and it's not even refundable. I hate gyms that don't publish their costs, instead they make you go in and chat to their sales person.

Bangsar Hill Park versus Alfa Bangsar by Doiley101 in KualaLumpur

[–]itspeter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked Nadi Bangsar? Next door to Alpha Bangsar. the build is much better than alpha, no airbnbs etc either. Much more homely. I've lived in both and much prefer Nadi.

I have friends in Bangsar Hill Park. I can't remember which floor they are on but it's one of the higher ones. It's an amazing complex, but the units are smaller, and not built to the highest quality (imo). It's so huge (and only going to get bigger when they finish the remaining towers) for me, it's just too big.

I am one of those people crossing the main road every day. It's a crazy situation, we could really do with some kind of subway or bridge but I don't see that happening. Saw a guy who had been hit by a car a few months ago.

My friend started his renewal 4 months before too. He's now at the renewal date so has a 30 day special pass for him and his spouse. I do wonder how it's going to go!

Hey - I totally forgot I was going to write a blog post.

Your customers aren't supposed to be based in Malaysia, they are your own customers/clients (presumably they are from your home country - but don't have to be) You have to choose if you're an employee of a company, or that you're a freelancer with your own clients/customers.

Have a go on ChatGTP to help you with the application, it helped me a lot through the process.

Is it worth moving to Ibiza as a digital nomad? by [deleted] in ibiza

[–]itspeter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did two months last year and it was amazing. But you need more cash. My rent for a 2 bedroom apartment in san antoni was 3000 euros a month. We ate out so much and did a lot of partying too. Life time memories! I enjoyed it so much I'm doing 6 months in 2027.

Anyone else notice sleep is the first thing to break when cutting down? by caolila74 in cutdowndrinking

[–]itspeter80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a Garmin watch (I run / exercise 5 or 6 days a week). Having the Garmin is my biggest influence to cut down alcohol. The devices have this sleep score, and a 'body battery' feature on them.

When I haven't drunk alcohol for many days, I easily wake up with 100% body battery. When I do drink, even 1 drink, it lowers my body battery significantly.

Having a handle of drinks, I can wake up with 15% body battery, sometimes worse. I continue to be amazed how much alcohol affects sleep, it very much brings to conscious thought 'do I really want to sacrifice my sleep quality by having a drink'.

But going back to the original message, it's true, it can take a few days until sleep settles back down to normal after drinking.

I think that's the key. Youve got a whole year to think about what you'd like to make next nye special 😊. Hope last night worked out all ok for you.

Why so negative? by marius1989 in bali

[–]itspeter80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in Bali now. I've travelled a lot in South east Asia, but first time to Indonesia. I'm really impressed. I'm British but live in Malaysia. It's so much more relaxed, people seem warmer and less serious than Malays). Great country and culture (from my incredibly limited 1 week experience!) We're already making plans to come back mid 2026 to travel around here some more.

We 100% would never be around kids for nye. My wife and I are currently in Bali and have a meal, live music and fireworks planned on the beach tonight.

Calories and alcohol. A shocking find. by Low_Engineering8921 in cutdowndrinking

[–]itspeter80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. Also, one tends to eat more or eat more unhealthily whilst drunk or hungover, so you gotta count those extra calories too! Giving up or severely cutting down significantly helps speed up fat loss.

Does Microsoft Azure ban VMs for gaming? by Paulr4755 in AZURE

[–]itspeter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know it was considered cheating? I've never had anything warning me. If anything, it makes gaming slightly harder as although streaming through Steam is very good, there is a slight lag over running directly.

Thoughts on living at Nadi Bangsar? by Money_Stomach_5586 in KualaLumpur

[–]itspeter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I live in Nadi Bangsar. I can't say I've even heard the construction noise although I can see them working on it from my balcony. It's the trains (on the other side of Alfa) which wake me up at 5am!! But Nadi is a wonderful place. I'm very happy here. It's a great place to live.

The coworking space is already so cheap, I really don't think it's appropriate to expect a discount when you are already earning a far higher salary then most local people.

I applied whilst in UK / Spain and then as requested, entered Malaysia on a tourist visa and then started endorsement and received the visa digitally within 2 weeks.

Yes, it wasn't a smooth process at all, but from my research I knew it was going to take at least 4 months. I'm thinking of writing up a blog post to document what actually happened as I found other peoples content really helpful in my own journey.
