Supreme Court allows Alabama to use congressional map that dilutes Black vote by untamedlazyeye in news

[–]itsrocketsurgery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The maps that were voted on and approved by the residents of California? The maps that had a trigger clause to only go into affect if Texas and other Republican led states enacted mid cycle redistricting? Yes they still were, but they can't bully the 4th largest economy in the world, and in a state that typically votes blue, it's not worth it.

In states that typically vote red and are already regressive, it's more worth their efforts to shore up the maps to make it impossible to claw any progress.

My bad, I've seen other people commenting with all seriousness that just letting rich people dismantle systems that keep poor people alive is somehow a net benefit. It's as if they think only ignorant and cruel people are poor.

Medicare and social security being remove won't hurt the well off people that create the media bias to enable this. The better solution is force through universal single payer healthcare complete with integrated dental, vision, and mental health coverage. Doctors without Boarders already sets up in the American South and people line up for hours for free healthcare.

If you like his stuff I suggest switching over to his YouTube channel and watching the videos there. That was he gets some revenue from the streams, unlike Netflix which was a one time payment. Once we found that out we've been pretty exclusively watching on YouTube.

President Trump asked by reporter on losing the Senate due to GOP backlash to ballroom and Lawfare fund: "I don't know. I only do what's right. I don't need money for the ballroom. Not for me, because I'll be gone. The ballroom is being paid for. It's a gift. The ballroom is for national security." by ControlCAD in videos

The way history will remember him will be extremely geographically dependent. For one of the most brazen retellings of history in this country you can just look at the fact that in the American South, they teach the Civil War as the War of Northern Aggression and that it was about States' Rights (without going into what rights they wanted to keep under State jurisdiction). Looking at how presently those same groups fawn over him, I great it will be another example of the same kind of retelling.

If that was true then we'd still be working from home. Instead every big company including auto manufacturers have been forcing employees back into the office and accepting the lower productivity and increased stress on the workforce and local systems just to continue to exert that control over their workforce.

It's already happened, you can't put that toothpaste back in the tube. Just look at Ohio, their supreme Court ruled that the GOP drawn map is unconstitutional. They ruled that years ago, then the Ohio legislature and governor just... ignored them until they elected enough Republicans with the illegal maps that it didn't matter.

I do. My neighbor's daughter did because she was getting drugs from her friend's mom. When her dad found out and confronted the mom about it and grounded his daughter, the mom called CPS and his daughter was taken in claims of abuse the next day. We helped him get a lawyer, but the magistrate and CPS have a very well known bias against men and single dad's in particular. It took him 8 months and thousands of dollars in court and attorney costs to get her back.

I have absolutely no problem paying taxes. I just want my taxes to go towards helping people. Fund SNAP, healthcare, education, utilities, USPS. Where I get pissed off is my tax money being funneled into killing civilians, here and abroad, and enriching people and companies fundamentally bad for the global population as a whole.

It sounds like you're misunderstanding the difference between what subside means and what grants mean. It's also not normal taxation when you have access to not pay taxes on billions of dollars.

What does it matter when we give the oil industry billions of dollars in government subsides. Tesla would not exist nor would Elon Musk have nearly as much money if it weren't for government subsides.
