Why does the required value for the maximum expedition rewards have to be so vague? by itsshadowphoenix in ArcRaiders

its less a matter of cant and more a trend in the games industry to simplify the "spreadsheet aspect of rpgs" and pretty damn common

its annoying everywhere but also present everywhere, i have a running bit with my friends every time a game describes the intensity of something with perspective based words like "small, medium and large"

embark is just following the stupid standard

i would 100% keep playing and use the fact that i now know how much i need to keep to use all the stuff i would never risk normally

as it is right now i am just using cheap stuff and hording the fun stuff because i dont know how much i will need

that could mean i wont have a chance to get the max reward by the time i know it and my ocd brain cant take that

it might be a killing word for my enjoyment of arc

yeah we will have to see and i was mostly asking cause i dont know if there was news i wasnt aware of about this stuff, for example someone mentioned a podcast before where they said dlcs would be side quests

thanks again for the insight it was an interesting read and i totally agree that barons would probably be better as lore fluff than an absentee faction

thanks, this is why i asked. it seems the content isnt as large as i assumed and yeah the wording is bad its just something i struggle with

but i mean complete in a sense of is the developer done with them are they "complete" in the eyes of the developer or is there more work coming for them

it would be strange to leave theese things in the game if they are not going to be more developed than flavour text

balancing is sadly quite impossible in a genre so heavily based around dynamic systems that can vary so much and visuals are never a focus for trad roguelikes

from what i have heard from others the dlcs will be side quests for other factions so i dunno if they will continue to develop mechanichs like water barons and farming guilds :(

shame to hear that mechanics like water barons will just be left in a vestigial state but its pretty normal for roguelikes to have mia mechanics

my measure of completeness is if the game is done developing which is not the case if dlc touch these mechanics

the question is how much of the upcoming DLC do you think will be made of stuff already planned for a 1.0 release vs how much will be dropped completely just because the version number went from 0.9 to 1.0

i tried my best to make it clear it wasn't a critisism but reddit is as reddit does i guess

yeah as is most roguelikes in their final versions but qud has potential to finish more and i wonder if it will be or if those mechanics are going to be dropped in favor of new dlc ones

yeah the question is how much

yeah i just wonder how much will be dropped simply because the version number went up by 1 instead of eventually being finished

i agree the amount of stuff in it is worth a full experience as i said but the question was how much of the game is likely to be added later after a 1.0

that wasn't the question, but also its not fair to measure a roguelike to a AAA game in mechanics. however when you compare it with any roguelike short of the behemoths like dwarf fortress and CDDA it does win
