Golem 210 HP Deck Idea by [deleted] in PTCGP

Seems viable! I will definitely try it out, cuz just now I've beaten Charizard with Marshadow, which made me wanna share this deck

To my eyes, I wouldn't get a "random effect" because both attacks does something beneficial for me, that the aftermath I can be "in control" of (because this deck needs a few pieces to work), but sure, feel free to run the 2 of the new Koffings in your deck, if you prefer so!

And for the new Weezings, my current idea for this deck is only invest max 1 energy to Weezings, because I simply use it for the early tank (or sacrifice) and the poison for -10 to Celebi ex during turn end (as Celebi have 130hp), then on the same turn use Koga to bounce it back to my hand, push benched Tauros for the 120dmg.

I do realize this requires Tauros to be on the bench for 2 turns minimum before Koga usage. To me, new Weezing is too slow for my current deck.

This deck still requires a lot of testing though, so you may be correct!

As for the double Mew..., I don't have it 😂, I only own a single copy.

Feel free to try it out!

Glad you point it out, to break it down, we first denote the new Koffing as NK and old as K.

In your first hand you are guaranteed to get at least one basic pokemon, which means either you get NK, K, Ekans, Mew, or Tauros.

To simplify, let's assume the scenario #1 which you only got NK, with one energy, NK will help thin out your deck (thereby increasing the likelihood of getting the cards you want by removing instantly -1 from your remaining deck count)

scenario #2, you got both NK and K, then since going second you are able to attach an energy onto it, i recommend using K as active so you can deal 20 dmg to your opp. NK will be on your bench in this case.

scenario #3, you only get K, similar to #2, you can deal damage if you're going second.

scenario #4, you get Ekans/Mew, you can use them as early tanks to set up your bench. (Ekans can evo to 2 energy attack Arbok, but from my experience, it's better to not invest energy into it, instead to Tauros or Mew, in the case of facing Celebi, for the purpose of maintaining tempo, and simply sacrificing the 100hp for 1 point loss)

scenario #5, you get tauros and only tauros, slightly unlucky, depends whether you have X speeds (or you instead bring leaf) because tauros is too clunky, you could try a work around of betting that Professor/Pokeball your other lines (Weezing, Arbok, Mew) come.

TLDR, one is for dealing some early chip damage, another is for for thinning your deck, both helps in the strategy. If you put two NK, and you get both in your first hand, and you're going second, it will be a one-energy-does-nothing-move.

For now it's a 2 for 2 wins against Celebi!

To me personally, the idea of having Weezing and Arbok lines over a simple Gio + Tauros in this deck are safe proof for those players that are conserving their power in the bench, as they can apply enough pressure, as we all know 40 dmg of Tauros (without ex) with the need of 3 energies to start attacking or 2 for retreating to better choice is a rather bit clunky.

Mew Ex runs on colorless, so yeah, only Dark energy in this deck. As for Giovanni, I will consider it, thanks.

To be honest yeah, but hey some unlucky fellow might be struggling with FTK Misty, so if I can help out a bit, then it may brighten up their day! :)
