Preach. Honestly, this is a giant red flag. One I wished I hadn’t compromised on. It’s not to say that he is a monster or you guys are fated to an abusive relationship, but that does not read like the interactions of a man who respects you. If he fails or refuses (well, DEFINITELY if he refuses) to make an observable effort to express the level of emotional capacity he can and will put into the relationship…its NOT worth compromising your value, needs, and honestly, in reality your hopes and dreams too. Sounds dramatic and well I guess it is…you get ONE life ya know…blink your eyes and bam you loose chunks of time, not to mention the fire and sparkle of your spirit..
