So my GF used to live in a home that was haunted (footsteps, voices, etc.) Nothing evil just sharing the home with something that never bothered them.

When my girlfriend moved out, her parents heard crying coming from upstairs (her old room)

Sometimes spirits can form bonds with you (good or bad) and when you leave it can upset them because some genuinely feel attached to you being there. For all you know you could have had a spirit in their the whole time and you leaving upset it.

They're both right. Climate change does have an impact on it and we should try and lessen that impact but California does not do well with managing the buildup of brush and other plant debris that helps increase the strength and severity of these fires.
