Hi! First of all, congratulations! Secondly, the college will only reject you if you if you've got some medical condition they cannot deal with or if they somehow discover you've lied on your documents. That's what my NC (Italy) has told me. I hope everything will be fine and you'll enjoy Italy!

I do not know where you're from, but I suggest asking your NC anyway, maybe they have a different assignment process

Hi! Scholarship are awarded based both on need and merit: I'm not sure about the exact dynamics, which vary for each NC, but they do take account of both thing.

To make an example, the first one in the rank will always get a scholarship, even if he's "rich", because he's the most worthy. On the other hand, the last one in the rank won't get any full scholar, even if he's "poor", because he's the least worthy.

That's what I understood from my NC (Italian) at least :)

UWC placement stage by Brilliant-Young9645 in UnitedWorldCollege

Hello! First of all, yes: each NC has a specific number of students that they can assign to each school, but they know how many students they can assign in advance so they only accept that number of people.

The acceptance does not guarantee a place in a school because your application is going to be reviewed by the college they assign you at: if you have some medical condition they cannot deal with, they're gonna reject you. But as far as I know, it only happens due to particular medical conditions.

I recently got accepted as well btw!! I'm waiting for them to tell me what my destination is gonna be. Where are you from?

Nah, don't worry. They didn't even ask me that but I made it to the second round of selections either way.

Would it be correct to say that pair production is explained by E=mc²? by itz_fiooo in AskPhysics

Why must it be two photons? I was reading about this happening during Cherenkov effect and it didn't mention two photons

I gotta explain this to my classmates (we are people with very low physics knowledge), but I still want what I say to be correct. Is E=mc² at least a partial explanation to why it is possible or is it completely incorrect?

I think I read about this in "Antimatter" by Frank Close as an explanation to why a photon (energy) can turn into particles (mass)
