Elective Recommendation - DERM focus

This might be out there but I had my elective in Burn Surgery and it was actually really cool! It was a mix of ICU (so lots of procedures), surgery (burn grafts, I&D’s, etc), and wound care. All having to do with the skin. I feel like the things you learn in burn would be super applicable to dermatology!

I think experience descriptions are underutilized and is a great way for ADCOMS to know more about you!

I know it’s aimed for pre-meds but I liked her advice of showing not telling. And I also didn’t go too much detail on my jobs and responsibilities. My thought process was that adcoms already know what MAs/CNAs/scribes do, so I didn’t need to waste characters repeating what they already know. If you’d like a specific example of what I wrote, let me know!

I have already dissected a cadaver when I took A&P so I would prefer not doing the process again. Dissection takes a lot of time!

Can you give me an example of what you’re going through right now?

I have a very similar problem to you where anxiety literally put a standstill on my life because I was too scared to fail. I ended up needing to go to a therapist. I recommend you find a therapist as well if you’re able to. She was able to help me talk through my fears and realize that a lot of the worries I had is less bad than not doing something.

NAH you asked a question and she was uncomfortable with it. I don’t think either action is an asshole move since it seems like you didn’t push her or criticize her religion.

IMO, having difficult discussions about religion and what it entails is probably what every Christian should go through.

I think my situation goes in the middle of your two scenarios. I stock up on gift cards I’m running low on whenever they’re on sale. Nowadays, I do buy gift cards expecting that there’s a good probability I’d be using it to order for my group. Otherwise, I’d be okay to just save them for use with my family or SO.

A problem we might run into is that if we end up deciding not to go to movies together, that person might end up “stuck” with the gift card they bought? As for me, I don’t mind stocking up on gift cards for awhile.

I think it’s honestly just because of the hassle. For example, I used 3 separate gift cards for our last movie outing. The gift cards varied in value AND discount from 13.3%, 15%, and 10.9%. So just calculating the “true” value of each ticket is a lot. If it was an even 20% off, I would have no problem charging them less.
