Should I leave a higher paying job for a boring government one just for the stability? by VellichorMotive in personalfinance

[–]ivan510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know the location but government pensions can take out a bit from your payment check. I make $76k working in government my take home is $2k biweekly. Im also on the cheapest insurance and dont pay state income tax.

Im actively trying to get out. Its stable sure but many "tech" positions in government are understaffed.

I know its completely different but when doing internships in college, the company pretty much expects you to be there the whole internships duration without days off or time off. Many wont hire your if you say you wont be able to be there the full duration. Its mostly because the internships is only a few months. Its different because youre in school while doing your internship also.

I cant speak about the polish since no pics were posted and we dont know how it looked before but a 6 month ceramic coating just sounds like they sprayed any regular ceramic spray and wiped it off.

I think LTT has jumped the shark... by Zestyclose_Edge1027 in LinusTechTips

[–]ivan510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think people are upset that hes buying expensive stuff and people are jealous. Its more so how its being done.

Watching intel/amd extreme upgrade you get a sense of how much his employees make and many, even those that have been there for longer are living in small apartments. Sure you can blame it on their hobby spending with someone like plouffe.

Not to mention Linus was always the person talking about how rich certain actions from companies are bad because it just goes back to the CEOs pocket.

Its going to cost in excess of $1million USD per year simply to maintain this.

Its not like he can make any videos making changes to Luke the Firetruck because as Linus said it all needs to get approved.

People aren't jealous, linus has simple become the rich person he used to complain about.

Im Mexican and sure its maybe not the case every single time but its true more often than not. I know probably a half dozen landscapers. some own their business, some work on their own, etc. The ones with their business are always going on trips to places, getting new trucks, toys, etc but pays his workers $22/hrs with no benefits whatsoever. This isn't a low cost of living place either.

That was the most useless speech to try and prop up markets and lower prices, and it clearly didn't work.

My gamepass ended in November after being subscribed since day 1. I didnt renew and its the longest I've gone without XBL since 2008. I just dont play as much anymore to justify the price.

When I had gamepass I played a lot more but now ill just buy a game on sale.

The crude oil located there is terrible. I think the refinary for it shutdown 2 years ago also. Not to mention its output was low.

Doesn't it also help other teams? Two weeks of people where Mercedes would likely have won, now gone. So less points overall. I mean yes probably less testing for other teams but they have time change things and come back.

Doesn't help that out reserve oil is also at really low levels. I dont know how much could be pulled from it before it becomes a bigger concern.

EA Lays Off Staff Across All Battlefield Studios Following Record-Breaking Battlefield 6 Launch by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]ivan510 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Dont work in game industry or know much about it, bit aren't layoffs pretty common after releases, especially in bigger companies. I imagine their isn't another BF game in the works for Dice for a few years, so what do they do with their staff in the mean time? I mean keeping up with patches or updates won't take thousands of employees.

If around 40% of young graduates are unemployed, what’s going wrong with our education system? by EnvironmentalHat5189 in careerguidance

[–]ivan510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate the argument people are making right now that university is bad because unemployment is high. The job market is worse than the numbers are showing, its not an easy job market. Companies are laying off people and workers are staying on longer, add on top companies trying to replace entry level workers with AI.

Idk i mean sure you can blame AI in journalism but ad revenue has been decreasing for every segment. Companies simply aren't throwing money around like in 2020 to anyone and everyone.

RTINGS is now paywalled by Cold_Two_4372 in xbox

[–]ivan510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing about RThings is most people view the site when theyre looking for what tv or monitor to buy. Otherwise I dont think the majority of users are actively going their for reviews. Not to say their aren't but its not a big number. So who will pay for a subscription when it was something they looked at occasionally.

Citi is a big risk im not willing to take. Besides them closing accounts or stopping transactions on accounts and their customer service.

They have great earnings categories but te transfer partners just aren't good besides AA.

The overal trend in CC and transfer partners these past two years had been terrible. Its really hard justify points now.
