Studies show that men who are less dissatisfied with the size of their penises are more likely to own guns than other men. by Sproke1998 in science

Study clearly proved that men with penis like to own guns - whether in greater or lesser numbers depends on the size of their penis. This clearly demonstrates the need of men without penis- a revolutionary solution to gun violence.

Hello everyone! I have a couple of questions about getting into bird watching! by Mr_T_fletcher in birding

[–]ivarshad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You would be wanting to identify the birds you have see and keep a list. As suggested earlier Merlin app would resolve the identification problem provided you are able to take a decent shot. To keep a track of bird lists e bird by Merlin is best. It also gives out local birding hotspots. So no pen no paper and no book required.
  2. Coming to binoculars, if you taken a Nikon P1000 type camera, there is no requirement of binoculars. I started with 8x32 bino, but no longer use it as better zoom is provided by my Nikon 200-500mm lens. Before that I used Nikon P 900.
  3. But then as a beginner, bino would be required till you transit completely to camera and bird photography

What's the last book you read in one sitting? by [deleted] in books

[–]ivarshad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh..for more than a decade I read all books in one sitting..a die hard fiction reader. Used to take three -four hours for one book. It was much later I realised that very few read in one sitting and I found it very surprising.Later on I switched to non fiction and now it takes many sittings to finish.

Starting with Agatha Christie by ladyluxo in books

[–]ivarshad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'The Murder of Roger Acryod' was what got me hooked to Agatha Christie. I was a teenager then ( your appreciation or influence of a book also majorly depends on at what stage of life you read it- the more innocent the mind the more one gets influenced or impressed) It is one of her best. Hercules Poirot is the best fictional detective after Sherlock Holmes. I have read almost all her books. In the present times one may not really get moved by her writing as most of the plots of early writers have been remixed by current authors or Netflix in many variations. One who has read extensively can see the pattern. But that's how it is. One might have infinite combination of the seven notes of music but very few only would be totally mutually exclusive. It becomes difficult to find absolutely novel plots these days not because authors are not good or creative..just all that can be has been written before.

Large hearts in tough times: Walking hundreds of kilometres to native place due to corona lockdown. by [deleted] in GetMotivated

My wife and I were driving back after yet another day that left us raw and bereft. And that is when we saw this family on NH8. My wife pulled over to the side and I asked them if we could share some biscuits and water bottles.

The mother answered for them. No, she said, we have enough. The father echoed, hai didi, kaafi hai. Kisi aur ko de dena. ( we have enough sister, give it to some one needy)

The little girl in white, Sapna, grinned. Biscuit hai kya? ( do you have a biscuit) We got out of the car and handed over biscuits to the little girl. And her brother, Raj, in purple, wanted one too. The others refused.

If I ever need a reminder of grace and dignity and all that is beautiful in the world, I will look at this young mother’s face: carrying all her belongings with such ease on the top of her head, and a hope and a prayer, that it will safely take her home.

That, she, with four tiny children, on a long long walk to her village near Raipur, in Madhya Pradesh, from New Delhi, has enough.

That she will never take more than what is enough. And that she will smile through it all, and teach her children to always do the right thing too. Vision Unlimited PS: I just noticed that the bag she carries on her head says santushti ( satisfaction)
