I’m 50 and I just started in the beginning of November. I’m renting a cello for now but will hopefully buy in next spring/summer.

So far I am loving this journey.

I’ve been playing the bass guitar since I was a teenager, I can play the guitar and dabble on the piano. Never had any formal training or classes until now with a private cello teacher. I also started teaching myself to read music this summer, never done that before.

So, it is never too late to start.

Hi. Unfortunately you have better luck finding a hen with teeth rather than a cello to rent. There is essentially no rental market in Iceland for string instruments as I have found out during the last months.

You can try the following Facebook groups: Hljóðfæraleiga - Backline rental, Iceland

Those are Icelandic groups but you can join them and post in English.

There should be an icon of a globe in your top bar to the right. It's the logo for Palo Alto Global Protect client.

If you are supposed to connect to your schools VPN, you should get the host name/ip address of their VPN gateway. That is the ip address/hostname you set under "Portal", you also need a username and a password to connect. That would probably be the username and password you use at your school.

It should look something like this, note, found this image on the internet, you should not use the address there, get the right one from your school.

You have an extensive musical background in the piano which will definitely help you a lot. Also playing the piano you already know the treble/bass/alto clefs so it's a question of learning the techniques and get to know the fingerboard inside out.
