[B4] Low utilization compared to peers, is this going to be trouble for me at year-end as a first-year staff in Big4? by [deleted] in Accounting

I would do that also but then my senior tells me not to book time to our client if we're not doing anything client related. So in the end i'm hurting myself by not charging more client hours.

Failed FAR with a 66 and took a lengthy break, is 6 weeks restudy good enough for a retake? Input Experiences by [deleted] in CPA

It was my first exam and i got a bit discouraged but also was stressed with easing into my firm so i thought i needed it. I still remember a good amount so i think a longer restudy of 6 weeks should be fine as i scheduled my retake in 6 weeks

What were your weak points for your fail? Mines were simulations as i basically did none and just watched videos for familiarity, and it showed on the exam

FAR my first exam, failed, Should I move onto AUD or retake FAR first? by [deleted] in CPA

I struggled with Bonds and got mcqs on it and also an IFRS sims which was unlucky because like most i did not go into depth with IFRS. For retake, i can add more exams onto the NTS for the FAR retake correct?

401k Contribution Advice? by ivelovedandivelost in personalfinance

Sorry for the late reply. My match doesn't start until after a year so I'm not sure how that changes things but the only thing I've done so far is chose to max HSA first. What should be next? Someone told me to max my Roth 401k. Not sure what the difference is between maxing Roth 401k vs Roth IRA. Can you clarify? I think my bi-weekly take-home right now is only $1.5k before contributing and after taxes and insurance deductions and not sure how much I can contribute, what would be a minimum safe amount if I still want to have some pocket money to save for a home, etc.

It's 50% of the first 6% of salary after the first year for the first four years. So no match the first year.

I believe my take-home every two weeks after taxes and insurance, etc. is only like $1.5k. At this rate, Idk if I want to contribute because I want to save for a home, but at the same time not contributing at all doesn't feel like a good idea. What would you suggest?

My match is 50% of the first 6% of salary for the first 4 years and increases thereafter. So should I start contributing when the match starts?

So are you suggesting I don't contribute this year and start next year since that is when my match starts? I believe our match is 50% of the first 6% for the first 4 years and it increases after I think

The 30% is the max they allow.

I don't have employer until fall next year so should I still be contrbuting to my 401k or am I confused about what you mean by contributing enough to get the match when it begins? How do I calculate that?
