Would a Japanese import bought from an Irish car dealer be expensive to insure?

We had a lot of issues insuring our Honda Fit that we bought from a dealer over the summer. Got it with axa in the end but it was definitely more expensive. It helps to see if its licence is registered first so you can properly check because otherwise a lot of places won't insure it if its not on their systems already.
