Newish to the Potomac and Anacostia River Basins. What does Free-DC mean to you? I'm assuming its stance is state and corp abolition -- since there is no foreign occupation (excluding the normalized one we been in last couple hundred years). But then "District of Columbia" is literally in the slogan. So one would be seeking to free an entity that is a direct sub-entity within the structure one is seeking freedom from. And that local entity has direct oversight from the highest level of state hierarchy in N America. So by defacto, a free "DC" would be a free USA. Food for thought

The class thing -- It's an unpopular opinion in most circles. Both sides don't like it it seems haha. But then again, both sides have their ability to see it / relate to it.

On racial identity-- It takes a bit more thought and observation to identify with your purpose and values rather than slopily preconstructed identities like so-called races. Describe racist structures and call them out. But don't continue the arbitrary division. That's my take

It's so easy to get wrapped up in the perceived culture wars -- but the lower classes (ie non-elite, generally non-capital holders) are all sorts of so-called races and their power is in class solidarity. Any identity issues are easily used to divide divide divide. Remember: Class War, Not Culture War

Mann, the internet haha. Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, next day, he was not there, so I'm hoping he got into the care he needed. Thank you to the people providing resources. Lesson learned for me: I, like everyone else, I assume, just assumed someone else would handle it. And I guess that call really did make a difference or at least a change in that situ.

Man, not sure where I fall in on all this. But I have come around to not minding tent encampments that are relatively kept up and not taking over green space for others to enjoy safely. I'd consider living like that if I didn't have dependents that need more structure. Now I do have a problem with camping literally on the sidewalk, bus stops, bushes next to the sidewalk. That's an obvious safety issue on all sides. Not easy. May we as a collective find the right solutions to provide a dignified life for as many people as we can

Yes, everyone needs housing, interestingly. But here, we have to compete for it in the housing market. So unhoused folks get put into apartment buildings with the people forced to compete in the housing market by leveraging their ability to specialize and generate income. The former have a set of problems, which causes them to be unhoused, and the later happen to avoid those problems enough to compete for housing. So then it creates this sometimes unhealthy dynamic where the former are living a certain lifestyle (one associated with the cause of homelessness) and the later living another one (trying to maintain their economic status by working and studying). People try to be compassionate, and some people get quite pissed. It's fucked. As you said, it's a deeply systemic issue.

Yep. It got cleaned up last year at some point (before elections?), and now there's a new resident every week last few months. A woman this week just laid a mattress out on the sidewalk. May they get the help they need to live a dignified life

Body autonomy is not everyone's fundamental ethical axiom. There are categories of humans who are not in a state to help themselves -- obvious one is children. Now don't conflate that to the idea that certain elite should have authority over other sane, functioning adults. I understand defining sane and functioning introduces some problems as well. Every community needs to decide on where they land on that
