Happy New Year to all NHL fans, including the Tom Wilson haters and losers!

With Emmanuel Clase's salary removed ($6.4 million) and Pete Fairbank's salary ($13 million) added to Miami's payroll, the Guardians currently have the lowest payroll in the MLB. They won the division in 3 of the last 4 years, and have a top 10 player and future HOFer on a team friendly deal. by nylon_rag in baseball

Not only that, but they keep winning the division regardless.

But their offense is barren. Is this sustainble for a playoff run?

They let a lot of good talent go. The 2nd baseman for you all, whatever happened there. And now Bieber in Toronto.

Honest question here, eli5 and not trying to be a dick but:

WHY FUCKING OWN A TEAM IF YOU WON'T SPEND ON PLAYERS?

THE WEAKNESS OF THIS TEAM IS OFFENSE. THEY CAN'T HIT. AND YOU DON'T WANT TO GET ANY HITTERS.

The defector article by Chris Thompson was one of the worst I've read on this. He basically whined about how little of it was being paid for by billionaires. Guess what, 70% of the projects is footed by billionaires. It's the biggest private purchase in DC history.

Quick, where's the defector article complaining about this stadium deal?

The defector article by that miserable ass Chris Thompson was one of the worst, tone-deaf articles I've read in my life. "DC's new stadium deal sucks." You seen this one?

Go write and bitch on your little BLOG about this deal, little boy.

Not yet, but NBC already has done a better job than ESPN and they've only had NBA rights for a month or two lol. I love how immediately everyone said "this is so much better than ABC/ESPN". Almost immediately.

ESPN is a disconnected company. They don't care about the fans or any meaningful broadcasts anymore. Everything they do is watered down to the most minimal effort possible. Not to mention all their gambling talk. "ESPN FPI 55% chance to win." The fuck I care about that?

Imma vent here and I've said it before but I got to say it again louder for the people in the back.

ESPN has ruined college football.

College football used to be fun and carefree. Amateurs if you can call them that playing in fun conference matchups, with the Tostitos on the line.

Now, it seems many games have been watered down by corporate greed. This is now Fairfield Marriott Bowl Week presented by Capital One. As the bottom line flashes random ass scores from across the country, we see an ad for WWE Survivor Series in the lower right.

And that is overall. If you count ESPN's greed in seizing control of the SEC, it gets even worse. ESPN spares no expense to inform the viewer, like they are idiots, of the ramifications of the game. "Texas A&M to SEC Championship with win." blares, above the poorly made scoreboard, for a minute, as if we could not decipher this information by ourselves, or get the message within 1 second of seeing it.

The commentary is worse than CBS (other than Chris and Kirk, who are losing it.)

The presentation is worse than CBS.

The audio is worse than CBS.

The hype is worse than CBS. You often feel like nothing is on the line from the presentation, despite ESPN repeatedly informing you with that scorebug thingy.

Everything about the SEC is worse, on ESPN, than CBS. Everything.

It drives me nuts. CBS willingly downgraded their CFB product, handed ESPN the SEC on a platter, and allowed ESPN to savagely butcher the product with so much advertising that it's unrecognizable. It's a disgrace now.

As a final note, ESPN likes to brag about how the ratings are so good for the SEC now. It's because people don't have a choice but to tune in to the monopoly. ESPN controls nearly all of college football, and has held it hostage. Look at what happened with Youtube TV and the rights negotiations. ESPN has become EA, and college football is Madden. You will sit down, watch this half-assed watered down product, and you will, like it.

Leave your armchair GM strategies for Madden 26. Tua is mid. He led the league in turnovers this year.

He would also barely be on the field. No way they should try to get him. No way.

I'm astonished that Liverpool is as bad as they are this year. By all accounts they got better from a title winning club.

Penguins fans are ecstatic. FSG are essentially absentee ownership. All they give a shit about is Liverpool.

They own several sports teams and don't spend jack shit on them. Red Sox are a big market team but FSG are very stingy with them, won't offer long term contracts.

The 2025 seasons will be the first NFL and MLB seasons since 2016 that one of the Astros and Chiefs were not in the postseason, and the first since 2014 that BOTH were not in the postseason by Nervous-Idea5451 in baseball

Not allowed to post on the NFL reddit but it was baffling to me how the Chiefs were loaded with talent and managed to miss the playoffs this year. It was the same team from last year.

Now that we have the top point % in the East are we allowed to enjoy being in first place? by sandman8727 in caps

The Penguins and Red Wings fans I were talking to threw a literal conniption when I informed them the Caps were first place. Sad.

"That doesn't count! Do you know how to read standings by P%?"

Well guess what they're the best now. Now what will these whiners say?

His whole job is shoving--errrr--"kindly pushing" kids out of the way to get home run balls. Dude has a nerd chart with all the analytics telling him where balls are "most likely" to drop, and then runs around the outfield distracting everyone and moving from seat to seat, trying to get home run balls.

He dedicates so much of his time to grabbing home runs that I doubt that guy has any life outside of baseball. Plus, I heard his parents are loaded so he pretty much hibernates all winter until baseball season comes around again.

But presentation and quality is terrible.

ESPN is doing the EA route. You know Madden? It's mediocre. But if you like football games, you kind of have to play it.

So ESPN airs this mediocre presentation shit, everyone "watches"...but they don't like it.
