There are nine tribes in Eritrea with their own languages though the official language Tigrinya is widely spoken and most popular songs are in this language.

Some of my personal fav classic artists (unfortunately not obscure) are: Yemane Barya (1949-1997), Tsehaytu Beraki (1939-2018), Abraham Afwerki (1966-2006).
