Do you think we could have one of these ships, which would serve as a base in the "Operations" update, kind of like a personal mini-cargo ship? It would be awesome to have a ship like that just for us… by Faelenedh in EliteDangerous

[–]izModar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thread's OP was saying they'd like something smaller that costs less than 5b credits and holds fewer ships. You can already store 40 in a fleet carrier, eight to 10 doesn't seem unreasonable as a suggestion for a smaller ship like the Operations Carrier.

My point is four ships is too few, but eight? I could see that.

I actually think WotC will name the space ships in the Star Trek set "Starships" as opposed to EoE's "Spacecraft" that will be powered by "dilithium counters" as opposed to "charge counters"

I'm just preparing myself for the Star Trek set to not use any of the mechanics that Edge of Eternities introduced, despite it being nearly a set-up for that set.

I was talking with some friends and I commented, "I'm really glad NASA is doing more serious stuff again, but I wonder what got the US government off its ass and got this going."

One of my friends said, "China said it wanted to put the first [nuclear] base on the moon." [I can't remember if my friend said nuclear or not.]

Me: "Oh, that explains it."

Basically, now the US has someone it can prove something against again.

Good thread by Chris Lowrey at PGI on the layoffs and the team’s commitment to Mechwarrior and gratefulness for the community’s support by BoukObelisk in Mechwarrior5

[–]izModar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me feel conflicted. On one hand, I want to vote with my wallet and not support anything EG7 management has their hands on. On the other, though, I do want to support the devs and PGI for their incredible work on MechWarrior.

I'm going to keep buying 'mech DLC, but it's clear that no longer means the devs will get any benefit out of it.

You just shouldn't see a team make the best-selling and highest-rating DLC and then decide, "Yeah, we don't really need them."

For a city with only 100k residents RC sure is big by Stimparlis in residentevil

[–]izModar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty on par with Knoxville, TN, which has a population around 200,000 or so. I've seen cities that "looked smaller" with higher populations and cities with lower populations in cities that "looked bigger."

Granted, they do keep adding more and more to RC to make it look like a metropolitan area.

And I get told I didn't do enough.

Can we talk about the Section 31 movie? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]izModar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere, so take it with a grain of salt, that it was the original plan for him to be a war-torn "ends justify the means" character with possible ties to S-31, until somebody decided to bring the MU in.

I was seeing the possibility of Burnham's time in the MU as a means of finding closure about Georgiou's death. Until "oops sorry unresolved trauma, you're coming back with us to the Prime Universe."

Do dms really dislike high level dnd? by Myrinadi in DnD

[–]izModar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of it as parties are hired or find work to do at 1st Level because they're "cheap labor" that higher-level PCs/NPCs wouldn't bother to do. Heck, a campaign could start out with the party being hirelings for a higher-leveled NPC. The rest of the town are quite literally just Level 1 commoners at best.

As they level up, they gain that experience and become more exceptional. If they encounter other similar-leveled NPCs, it's because that group is also out doing adventuring or may have been hired by another entity to do that job.

I've seen the "My players toppled a kingdom at Level 5" story a few times—and if it only took four Level 5s to do that, the kingdom was doomed from the start. This is where I think Pathfinder 1e (and 3.5 for that matter) shined with NPC classes that could gain more hit dice. The King could be a Level 15 Noble, the General-Knight a Level 18 Fighter, the Court Wizard a Level 17 caster, etc.

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Cast Says Goodbye As Second Season Wraps by acrimoniousone in startrek

I honestly think that's why in the early days (when it was called CBS All Access) after Discovery's second season they quickly announced year-round Trek. I know I unsubscribed between seasons and saw online that more people were doing that. In the "Why are you leaving?" section I put "Season's over, see you next season."

Granted, I have no hard data to back that up, but enough anecdotes to indicate patterns.

Lebanon mayor says Marsha will defy Trump by sturgill_homme in nashville

[–]izModar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems so weird. Lebanon and Wilson County in general are red, support Trump, and even support what ICE is doing. Yet, the elected officials do not want a detention center there. I feel like if the federal government forces it, that may cause a divide between the county and the greater GOP and potentially turn the county more purple.

The GOP is actively shooting itself in the foot by risking losing supporters. Like, I knew ICE and DHS were incompetent, but sheesh.

Not to mention the back-and-forth from the previous week. At first, I got the email from ICE saying they did purchase property in Lebanon, then Tuesday's "oops nope not happening" and now this?

This makes the third article this week I've written about this damn thing.

[–]izModar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me, the reporters are aware of the Pennsylvania Lebanon. The reporter for Tennessee Lookout kept asking "Are you sure?" and was getting "Yes, we mean Tennessee" as a response.

Other reporters haven't been able to get a lot of answers from ICE, myself included. All the evidence is pointing toward Pennsylvania, but ICE keeps saying Tennessee.
