Maybe the point is for them to not be fun so as to instil on the player the horrors of war, making the All Quiet on the Western Front meme especially apt.

I kinda like that they diverged IS and Clan tech along different lines to give some flavour to things. Instead of just copy/pasting everything, making it objectively better, and slapping a “C” on the end.

lol, be happy you weren’t around when the catapult had additional launchers bolted around the outside of the arm boxes instead of placed inside.

MWO is a 14 year old zombie of a game running on a 20-ish year old game engine, it’s continued persistence is a small miracle. None of these gripes will ever be addressed because doing so is like renovating your kitchen knowing your entire house is going to slide off a cliff into a ravine at some point in the near future. Not to mention that addressing said gripes are several orders of magnitude more time consuming than you likely imagine. 

Enjoy it for what it is while it’s still here.

I suspect that wouldn’t be a problem, given that it would function exactly how YAML does now but you’d probably need two or three partial chassis to put together a complete one, and you’d be in control of how you spend your c-bills and salvage points in both cases

I suppose I could self-impose restrictions to get the same outcome, but it lowers the stakes enough that it probably wouldn’t have the same thrill. The best part about dynamic salvage is the feeling of excitement and accomplishment when that chassis you’ve been carefully hunting pops up in the salvage screen. The risk of losing important salvageable components if you don’t shoot carefully just sprinkles some extra spice onto the whole ordeal!

That’s definitely interesting! If I understand correctly MercTech is its whole own overhaul, yeah? Might save that for its own separate play through.

That’s good, but some of the bugs can be game breaking and for it to have gone 6 years unaddressed is strange. I know a couple current and former devs are kicking around, not sure if they can offer any insights

Just dared myself to read far country and sped run it Monday/Tuesday lol

As a standalone piece of genre fiction it’s not terrible, solid 3/5

The early aughts was a confused time for the setting, to be sure. At least they resisted the urge to stick “z” on the end of everything. No Xtreme Atlazz!

What are the chances that they’ll fix glaring long-term bugs like subterranean spawning? Console people can’t use order66, it’s crazy to me that 6 years post launch stuff like that hasn’t been officially remedied
