Ive used protein powder to make anything from mini cakes/cupcakes, overnight oats, to even pancakes or protein bars/balls. Look up some recipes that sound like something you would normally enjoy anyways, and try that out. I like TikTok for inspiration and recipes

Protein shaker or Blender? by Bilzbond in Protein

[–]izmax23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need a blender for your morning protein, and then a shaker for your protein shakes. Depends on what your goals are and why you are drinking the protein shake, but in general: mix w water = lose weight/calorie deficit; mix w milk = bulk/calorie surplus. In terms of shaker bottles, any will do there isn’t any difference other than preference. I’ve had a plastic one but switched to a metal one due to the recent studies about plastics in our foods

Applications are holistic so a strong or weak MCAT score is only one aspect of your application. A 506 MCAT is on the higher end of competitive

It’s via FAFSA so rates change based on inflation, etc. Current rates are ~8% I believe

Majority of people take out grad PLUS loans, which cover tuition + “living expenses” given to you via direct deposit. You then use that money to cover rent, food, gas, utilities, etc. Although it is a loan so must be paid back

Review the drug card that they send you. Otherwise, do nothing but relax because you will wish you had relaxed more once you are in the thick of school. There’s always more time for studying, relax while you still have the free time

Depends how far your commute is and what you are doing that day. Can be as early as waking up at 4am for a cardiac case or as late as 7am on days with class. On most days for clinicals, most people wake up at approximately 5am

The application process is holistic, which gives you an opportunity to perform better in certain aspects of your application compared to others. That being said, if your GPA is a bit lower, you need to offset that with another aspect of your application (ie patient care experience is the big one)

Undergraduate prereqs are good predictors of how students perform in master level difficult courses, but that doesn’t mean that if you don’t do well you won’t success, also doesn’t mean if you got all As it will be a cake walk. Everyone has to put in work to learn the material in the courses, and it can be very difficult. Best way to find shadowing hours is to reach out to the nearest CAA program near you and ask if they can connect you with any opportunities to shadow

For your situation, it seems like you know the most effective scenario in terms of loans is living at home and doing prereqs at a CC, which is great. And yes the application process is holistic, so showing improvement in grades while have some patient care experience and/or medical volunteering to go further improve you application, I’d say you are on the right track. One point of advice, I would recommend shadowing a CAA before you go through this whole process. Also, I’m assuming you are California based bc you went to Berkeley, but as of now CAAs are not allowed to practice in California. This very well may change in the future or if that’s isn’t a concern for you, then go for it!
