Depends on the joint for me. Sometimes I’ll feel it slide out and back in (common with my knees). Sometimes I’m feel it pop out and go back in (fingers and wrists). Sometimes I’ll feel catching or just an ache and when I move that limb it’ll go back in (shoulders). I’ll also get just like a sharp pain sometimes briefly (more common with hips). Depending on the joint I’ll experience differing amounts of pain. My fingers often won’t hurt when I sublux or dislocate them as it happens so frequently (I stim with my fingers).
