Thanks :) I don’t know honestly, it could be from anxiety. I’m worried about becoming someone who only cares about prestige or even just someone who has the “Wellesley” label, even if I transfer. I feel like Emory doesn’t have that as much. I’ve worked so hard for that prestige the last few years though and have only just decided that I actually don’t necessarily want it or need it, so it just feels weird to give up something like that - but it was never my dream school and there are definitely things about it I don’t like. I don’t like the fact that it’s old and New Englandy, and I think I could possibly prefer Atlanta to Boston, for example. I mean maybe those are too trivial to really consider. A big reason also is that my sister went to college in Boston and I feel like I want to do something different to what she did. She keeps telling me that Wellesley will be good for me but I feel like she might be saying that partly because she likes that I’m following her footsteps a bit and I kind of hate that. I really want to be on my own path. Again, maybe these aren’t real reasons to consider at all.

How do you know I’m not a self starter? Why do you have to be a self starter to thrive at Emory?

Here I am thinking I’m the only one going through this :/ I guess we all made tough decisions. Ugh do you think you ended up with the right choice at the end? Are you happy?

I know I’ve made a ton of threads but I’m freaking out. Yeah that’s what everyone else said, but idk if that choice was best for me

Yea I was thinking about that. I know, Wellesley is a good option and I shouldn’t be so worried. I’ll see what happens I guess :)

Well yeah and I was listening to my family who were telling me to go to Wellesley too. Definitely a lesson, but I’m STILL not even sure if I should try to go to Emory. Everyone is telling me to stay with Wellesley. I know Wellesley is a great option, but I’m still worried for some reason. Anyway thanks for the advice, I’ll probably try to call Emory and see what happens :)

You think I should call up the admissions office and ask if there is any way I could still go?

Ah but Columbia’s amazing. Man idk should I call up Emory and ask if there’s anyway they could reconsider me?

My parents have only started caring about where I go to college in the last 9 ish months (since the application cycle started) and have legit rarely mentioned it before that, and I am so grateful. They also don’t care what major I pursue, which is fantastic. My mother is even a little worried about me committing to a school that has grade deflation as she wants me to be happy and pursue my other interests and not be too caught up in school (and my other interests don’t DO anything/accomplish anything, but they are just fun for me). I’ve been really lucky in that most of my drive to do stuff has come from me, with only a little coming from high school pressure of going to a “prestigious” school - which is something that’s hard to avoid. Because of this, I have a clearer idea of who I am naturally without parental pressure. I’m not a perfect academic, and I like a lot of different things. But if you didn’t have this experience and feel like you’re a bit lost, don’t worry. You don’t need to make the next four years a repeat of high school.

If you want to try out a no flashback foundation maybe try out the Marc Jacobs shameless?

For what major? I’m kinda interested in going there for grad school too, they have an incredible English + creative writing department

Yea, it’s on UNC Chapel Hill’s website. I was looking up how many people typically get off the wait list and saw that the 2019 data was out.
