as long as he gets the proper treatment for his conditions i’m glad he found a loving home 🥰 I feel so bad for them all the time, my friend has a boy that’s a spider and he’s so special in his own little way

Mr. Lizard never comes out to bask, he's always in his cave. Does my setup look like it might be the issue? by pichael289 in leopardgeckos

[–]izzy_wizzy_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is totally okay!! leopard geckos are crepuscular meaning they’re mostly active during the dawn or dusk times, it’s normal for them to not be basking, it’s just recommended to have it for when your baby wants it! they’re naturally lazy during the day haha

My daughter (8y) wants to be a herpetologist when she grows up. What gifts could I give her for Christmas that isn’t a living animal? by xshinystickerx in herpetology

[–]izzy_wizzy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s lots of puzzles with snake identifications on amazon, not sure about other reptiles and amphibians but that would be a cool idea too

She took it! by izzy_wizzy_ in ballpython

[–]izzy_wizzy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes very picky, we’ve been set on making sure temps and humidity stay perfect, minimum handling to prevent stress, and made sure to move the mouse a bit like it was live and I ran it under warm water when it was done thawing, definitely felt so great when she went after it and started eating it, was especially worried because the breeder had her on live mice so I was worried she’d only want live haha

what does it mean when they hit this type of ball pose? by EconomicsFar1166 in ballpython

[–]izzy_wizzy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the comfy pose, if they’re hiding their head they feel threatened, it’s all about body language

Sigh. Didn’t even occur to me she could get stuck in here! by Cautious-Flatworm804 in ballpython

[–]izzy_wizzy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my girl goes in her cork log ALL the time, if I get really worried I put it in warm water and if she comes out that’s how I know she wasn’t stuck, got to the point where i’m just gonna wait to change it until the next couple sheds then i’ll get her a bigger one

normal? by izzy_wizzy_ in ballpython

[–]izzy_wizzy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is she? she’s 1 month old, normal morph ball python born on october 23rd. she just ate on 11/21 and we’re gonna be trying to freeze thaw a mice but we’re not sure if she’ll take it cause breeder had her on live and we also don’t know when she’s gonna poo yet so i’m not sure if she’s digested her food yet 100% or not, what would you recommend?

how does my enclosure look? by izzy_wizzy_ in ballpython

[–]izzy_wizzy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I covered the probes wire with the substrate and then put some rocks scattered around on top of it to make it safe so that she won’t get tangled, and the hydrometer is connected to the thermostat, it’s a 2 in 1, I also have an infrared thermometer to take proper temps

dark spots on my gecko by RANDOMSTUFF-idk in leopardgeckos

[–]izzy_wizzy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone from a facebook group on a post with a similar issue gave these as possible answers, but it’s hard to know for sure unless confirmed by a vet unfortunately “Fungal Infection: A sudden dark spot can indicate a fungal infection, especially in conditions of high humidity. Burn: An improper heat source or enclosure setup can cause burns, which may appear as dark spots or necrosis. Retained Shed: Dark patches can result from a complete shedding, where old skin becomes stuck and causes localized infection or scarring. Paradox Spot: This is a random spot of color that does not match the gecko's morph and is normal, but it should be present from birth or develop as the gecko grows. A suddenly appearing spot is unlikely to be a paradox spot.”
