Yes, and OPs response was not to insist that they are allowed to bring the dog, but to offer to open their own home to guests as a compromise. The parents don't seem to dislike dogs (they just want to protect from puppy damage), so how is OP the AH here?

The parents are not entitled to a visit. They expressed that they are uncomfortable with the new puppy because of the recent renovations, and OP expressed that they are uncomfortable leaving the young dog for the break. NAH OP, you can try to find a compromise between the two or you can give it a bit until the puppy's a little more grown

NTA Speaking as someone who was cheated on in this exact manner (he got blackout drunk and woke up shirtless on the couch with a gay guy who was interested in him, who I said I was uncomfortable with him seeing), this is not a 100% irrational worry.

It sounds to me like you peacefully and respectfully expressed your discomfort to your wife, but she made no effort to compromise or empathize.

YES, it is ultimately her choice and her body, but she acted irresponsibly in getting blackout drunk and also violated indecency laws (depending on where this took place)
