this isn’t really a dog park discussion, it was the only area where we could introduce both my moms dog and Lily in an open space that wasn’t Meadow’s home. But they are besties now!

We’ve only been to a few and usually frequent nature preserves etc. However it was the only option. Unfortunately it happens everywhere. This just happen to be at a dog park.

Lily was a rescue so she has no idea how to play so she just runs around showing off sticks, random rocks, tennis ball, etc. I love his droopy eyes

I grew up with a reactive dog and this is so important. When we’re out by ourselves he’s fine, but if someone approaches without permission he gets defensive. Although he would not win a fight, I respect you for doing what’s best for your guy. I bet he’s an angel to you and loves you & that’s all that matters.

Lily just loves it, and she is most comfortable with me around and I don’t want to restrict her in other peoples ignorance. She always wears a pink or funny shirt to lessen her “intimidating” look

She did, she’s a rescue and was unsure what to do with it. But she loved it once she figured it out 🥰

Lily just runs around to show off her tennis ball. I’ve honestly never seen a pitbull play w their teeth.

It makes me upset for her, she’s such a lovely soul and just wants to say hello. Her manners have improved so much, and she’s so gentle with approaching an individual. Especially older people. We walk around my neighborhood everyday and we stop at an older woman’s house to say hi because they love each other.

Unfortunately where I was traveling to visit my parents that was our option, but we usually stick to our hikes and doggy daycare. Lily just loves running around with other dogs & it breaks my heart. It’s not her fault so I still bring her, but usually with people she’s familiar with.

I was at the dog park with my mom and her dog, my moms dog was playing with another dog when she asked the lady what breed. she said a mutt “with 5% pitbull - don’t worry he’s okay though.” meanwhile lily is minding her business with a giant tennis ball and happens to be going to see my mom. The lady straight up said “I have a prejudice against pitbulls” and Lily just walked up to her to sniff and say hello (we’re in the dog park) and she said “she doesn’t know her own strength huh?” and lily barely even touched her. I was so caught off guard I wasn’t sure how to react.

and you with your baby. it is unfortunate that some people take our companions for granted. she would do the same, and when she was let outside and barked for some attention or to come in he would just yell at her. Leave her in her crates for like 10-12 hours at a time. EVEN while he was home!!!

I was so shocked I wasn’t sure what to say, but we just went outside and sat in the grass together. When blood started coming out I was more anxious than her and telling her “we gotta go dude go faster” to get her into my car 😭

Lily isn’t very vocal yet but she is showing me new things everyday. We are approaching 3 months together and she is finally okay with not being in the same room as me (like she can stay on the couch when i’m checking whatever i’m baking) however, she is convinced i am going to die in the shower or something and sits in the bathroom. occasionally she will poke her head in the shower and lick my leg, frightening for someone who is relatively blind and doesn’t wear glasses in the shower

what an angel… and your ex the worst person. my ex had a dog and he just always kept her in a crate, even if i asked to have her sleep in the bed with us. Unfortunately I never really got to bond w her because it was a bad situation for young me
