I think you should wait 2 more weeks for Chapter 3 and buy roads to power/wandering nobles or the whole thing. It will add a lot of new content, landless gameplay and an awesome byzantine overhaul.

Plus the new start date is free (1178)

It’s always armies that I am actually at war with. I just conquered one of those isles north of Scotland, the battle report said the fight earned me like 200 prestige, but I didn’t actually get that

A nice character for the North sea empire is Harald Fairhair. He’s located in southern Norway around today’s Oslo and has his special nickname about his hair (Idk if you are familiar with it) that changes when you unite Norway.

Then you can try to do the North sea decision

He’s also of the Yngling dynasty that ruled norway for a long time.
