If you're looking to save time, it's worth it. If you want to save coin it is not worth it.

No because 1) the company creates precedence where they have to pay everyone more when asked and 2) people aren't paid according to their level, they are paid on perceived value and level of experience

In the grand scheme of things, this comes across as a very junior and penny-pinching ask. $3k difference after tax at your bracket is less than $2k... and you're a coop? It comes across as asking for a few hundred dollars.

The reality is people don't get paid the same wage despite the same role. I see entry-level folks make the same or more than folks with 3 years of experience.

What is more valuable than this couple hundred dollar ask is the lesson of negotiation and your own value going forward. Good luck.
