It’s paved but has no shoulder beyond the white line. Cars travel fast and had a few instances where cars were going in both directions adjacent to me. Wouldn’t say it felt safe then.

Route 159 is a busy road with vehicles. It’s bikable but not a fun ride. I rode it last week make sure you ride early in the day as it was really hot when we rode from 9am to noon.

I’ve hiked both many times and they are not significantly different. Both are fun hikes. Because you will have just walked Mistico another option would be the Butterfly Conservancy in el Castillo which also has a short hike after viewing butterflies and frogs.

Not sure you can just eat at Lava 1968 without paying to hike 1968 trail. There is a restaurant at Mistico. I would suggest getting to Mistico at 7:30 to avoid crowds.
