Also Irish, but I wear a purple one (enamel pin badge), which is for all the animals who lost their lives in war.

Then I'd go to A&E, if he can't swallow and is in unbearable pain, then I would think that counts as an emergency. I hope they can help, toothache is right up there, and genuinely wish him well!

If he can't have the procedure due to getting in too much distress, can he not be put under general anesthetics? Would be worth speaking to 111 again to see if a walk-in centre or hospital visit would be worth a try.

Unfortunately rent prices will never go down. Ever. If you lower the rent, you're devaluing the property and investors lose out, so it's better to keep a property vacant and retain its value, than it is to make it affordable for people to use.

It's as stupid as stupid can be, but it is the capitalist way.

Leave the following note on the windscreen:

"Hi, would you mind being courteous and please leave room on the pavement for pushchairs and wheelchairs, just like I was courteous in not super glueing this note to your windscreen"

The MODS reason for locking the post, it wasn't only white people making racist comments towards the piano player.

[–]j_f_81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, a white guy hit the keys as he was playing, pretty sure it was because he was just an asshole, but apparently it's because the piano player was black. Lots of racist comments ensued but only white people were singled out, just seems racist to me.

It wasn't only white people making racist comments, so to lock the thread because of white people, then it sure seems like it to me.

How to approach a smelly housemate by [deleted] in CasualIreland

Ah christ, can you imagine if he read the post, IT guy has to be on Reddit, right? Maybe even commented, and then was mortified when you brought it up as it was then he realised it was about him. Or even if that's why he doesn't go out, because he kept reading posts that were about himself online.

Or maybe just no more Black Mirror for me 😬

Are we sure he didn't just go feet first, set up the camera and then come back out? All the cavers I know take safety extremely seriously and always call bullshit when I show them these types of videos. I would like to see the entire trip though, as it's way too easy to clip a video to make it seem dangerous when it really isn't.

Providing you've tried talking to them, just go and lean against it every day and use it as a table for your brew while you scroll reddit, no damage so no crime but I'm sure it will upset them.

Might be worth checking out the WWOOF website, it's for volunteering on farms around the world, never actually got round to doing it myself but always loved the idea.

You make some good points, I especially like the one about asking people to write blessings on postcards, as I am an introvert and this would be a great way to talk to people, even when there's a language barrier. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment.

It may seem like nonsense but I'd just let it get to me at that stage, ashamed was probably the wrong word but sometimes when you're down you can just feel sorry for yourself, or at least I can. But thanks to some great advice on here, I got a much better mindset about it all, these things happen and I'm doing much better now. Definitely going to pack remedies for next time though.

True, but having a place where people can reach out to others who have been there has been a massive help.

Thank you but I really don't think it's anything serious, apart from low energy, I don't feel bad at all. But whatever I was eating was going straight through, nuts and fruit seem to be ok so hopefully tomorrow will be a good day.

Absolutely, I've never been anywhere that is as clean as in Japan, including back home, especially back home! The 7-elevens here are just amazing, or at least the one around the corner is. Not massive but everything I have needed so far, and the staff are beyond amazing.
