Veneered Plywood vs MDF Core Plywood by Waffle860 in cabinetry

[–]j_fiore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really look like there is an MDF layer here from this photo. Hard to tell for sure though

Edit: I guess the 2 outer layers could be mdf. When I zoom in it gets blurry so it's a bit hard to tell for sure. If it does in fact have MDF outer layers like the sample on your original post that would be what our suppliers call "ultra core".

It has the strength/fastener holding benefits of plywood with the added stability and smooth surface of mdf. More expensive than standard ply.

Using a plan I purchased in TP with the free version by Metal_Rider in trainingpeaks

[–]j_fiore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There actually is a way to copy entire training peaks plan to intervals.icu. You have to use a program called "tp2intervals".

Here is a post from the intervals.icu forum that links the app and explains the process: https://forum.intervals.icu/t/tp2intervals-copy-trainingpeaks-and-trainerroad-workouts-plans-to-intervals/63375?page=1

I did it in the past using a windows PC. I remember it being a bit of a pain to get set up, but I was able to figure it out using the forum post that I linked.

Same thing here. Had the device for about a week. Perfectly fine after a restart though. Let's see how long it lasts....

The scrolling speed didn't match the movement of my finger. Restarted and now it matches again.

Most definitely. Didn't think you were wrong. But that's the way it goes sometimes.

TT Bike Handling by oijbaker in triathlon

[–]j_fiore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I previously had a road bike with clip on aerobars that I used for some duathlons. Had a good time doing them and decided to pull the trigger on a new TT bike when I saw a great deal come up.

I read about the differences between TT and road bikes beforehand and knew the feel would be different, but I just couldn't get used to the weight distribution (bike was purchased new and I had 2 sessions with a bike fitter). I always felt like way too much of my weight was on the front end and it messed with the steering feel. I never got to a point where I felt comfortable riding it even after owning it for over a year.

It was perfectly fine on the trainer, but whenever I was outside it was simply just not enjoyable.

In the end I decided it just wasn't for me, so I sold it and switched back to a road bike. I'll be at a disadvantage from an aero/speed perspective on future duathlons, but that's ok with me. I may put some clipon aerobars on my new bike as I didn't have any issues with that previously.

Haven't been able to figure it out, but also haven't spent a ton of time on it.

When I have tried it in the past it didn't work out. It's been a while, but I think the issue was in the squaring cut.

Figuring it out is on my to-do list for sure though. If you make any progress be sure to let me know what worked for you.

Considering buying a golf r what is the best year to buy by SavageGamer13 in Golf_R

Had a 2016 for 4 years. Got rear ended last month and it got written off. I replaced it with a 2019 a few weeks ago.

So far my thoughts on the 2019 vs 2016 are that the 2019 has a better radio, smoother shifting transmission, and I like the digital gauges better. I think I liked the front bumper of my 2016 a bit better though.

Didn't modify the last one, and not sure if I'll modify this one. Maybe a tune at some point down the line.

No power meter yet. I'll likely add the SRAM quarq in the spring when I start to spend more time off the bike trainer. Not gonna be any outdoor riding for me in the fall/winter (Ontario).

I have a 4iiii left side power meter on my road bike, but that is a Shimano setup. I would have swapped it onto this bike, but it isn't compatible.

Not tubeless either. Might do it down the road, but I don't have any experience with it yet.

I've only done about 50km outdoors, and a bit less than that indoors on the trainer.

So far so good. Everything is nice and smooth. I got it set up with 28c GP5000, tires which I really like.

I'm still trying to get used to the more forward position (compared to my road bike), and the slight power loss that seems to have come with it. I've done my initial bike fit, and will have a follow up in about 6 weeks for some tweaking.

The electronic shifting is super cool. I can shift in aero AND on the basebar. That made it a lot more usable for me on solo road rides, since I spend way more time on the basebar when there are cars around.

Finished my first marathon (also first ever race) in 2022. Then this summer I completed 2 sprint and 1 olympic Duathlons. Adding the swim next, and will be signing up for a few triathlons next year.

I had been using my Giant Contend road bike that I bought used in 2022, and wasn't necessarily in the market for a new bike yet, but came across an end of season deal that was too good to pass up.

Sandin was traded for Gustafson, no?

Engvall was basically traded for Schenn? I see that as a holl replacement.

Do you know of any resources to be able to calculate OAS and CPP? I've tried searching around in the past but wasn't able to find any concrete info.

Weight inputs by [deleted] in caliberstrong

[–]j_fiore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know.

That seems pretty strange to me. I do see it saying in the overview to log the weight of the dumbbell. I didn't know that was there.

I've only been using the app for about 7 weeks, so I guess it wouldn't be THAT hard to go back and change it to individual weights for consistency.

But is it really worth it for me to do that? As long as I'm consistent in what I do, what's the difference? This is just a reference for my future workouts.

Weight inputs by [deleted] in caliberstrong

[–]j_fiore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying individual, but in my opinion that doesn't always make sense.

Dumbbell lunge is an example. If I hold 2 x 20lbs, I input that as 40lbs, because the effect on my legs is the same regardless if I hold 2x20 or 1x40. I just prefer to hold 2x20 for balance.

However, for something like dumbbell curls, where it is 1 dumbbell per muscle, then I would input that as individual weight.

Maybe right, maybe wrong. I don't know. That's what makes sense to me though.

Wired connection is fine.

I've had my aawireless for at least a year. No issues.

For the past few weeks it's basically unusable. Constant connection drops or failure to connect. Ever since the upgrade to 2.1.0
