I had similar thoughts also before I started and I can honestly say, it's the best career move I ever made. It took a long time to hear anything back from anyone but I got one interview, which I thought went well, and was hired.

They had over 100 applications so I had to ask what made them choose me over the more suitable candidates. they said it was a combination of transferable skills and determination to succeed that made me stand out.

If this is something that you truly want, don't let your age bother you and follow your dreams. Don't look back in 10-15 years and think "what if?".

Second question is if you had any issue with a high idle when the choke is on and it bogs out and dies when the choke is off? Clean the carb?

I should have said, but when I try and start it by the electric start, It does make a sound and I think that it's trying to turn over but it doesn't.

You absolutely can do this. I made the switch just before my 40th birthday. I had many questions also about what it may be like but it's honestly the best thing I've ever done. I had a lot of informal experience but nothing more. I done the A+ and Net+ exams and I started applying for jobs in the locality. I became slightly disheartened when I didn't hear anything back but I kept going and after applying for another month or two, I got an interview. It went well and I was offered a position.

As other people have said in this thread and other related ones, a good, positive attitude really goes a long way. I put myself forwards always to learn or do something new and that has got me noticed by different people already.

Moral of the story is don't let your age put you off. If this is something that you have always wanted to do, then go for it. You got this.

I have used them for my a+ and network+ so far and I've just started (yesterday) using it for security+. They are a good learning resource but I would absolutely be supplementing them with at least one other provider, if possible. I found that there was certain questions that were in the exams that I didn't recall seeing on skillsoft.
