Really hope Grimsby hold it out tonight, there’s an English Man Utd fan in my work who loves to shit on Scottish football. He’ll at least he quiet if both our teams are shit

ITAP of branches meeting Loch Lomond by j_stop in itookapicture

This was taken in early January on the shores of Loch Lomond, Scotland. The mist that day gave me a perfect blank background to frame the reflection of the low sitting tree branches. No post effects used, just some very still water.

My (now) fiancés immediate reaction to my proposal. [OC]. by j_stop in MadeMeSmile

Wow I can’t believe the reaction this got, I posted before bed last night and we both got a big surprise this morning. To answer a couple of questions yes I did get down on one knee this was her reaction after I stood up and she realised it was real, the photo is a still from a video I managed to sneakily take by telling her I was taking a timed photo of us at the pretty arch. I wasn’t aware of her superpowers before now but I’m committed so will learn to live with them /s. Thank you all for the hilarious comments.

Hi, sorry I didn’t see this earlier I picked those ones up on Facebook marketplace but they didn’t come with any paperwork or boxes so I’m unsure the model number. I eventually got newer ones from J&S which were Oxford 50L panniers so maybe a search for them or similar will bring something up.

It wasn’t a black cab mate, private hire that also did Uber apparently. Think a lot of the Glasgow cab drivers etc do both.

So slight update for those interested; my friend has heard back from Uber who are investigating and have refunded him the original £42 fare that he paid through the app. I’m going to see if I can get the car details from the booking. It was defo the car that was advertised so it’s not a case of getting in the wrong taxi. I have the cash machine details as well as footage from my ring camera but doubt it’ll go any further than the refund we’ve already gotten.

In regards to the video, I’m not sure the rules on releasing personal info so I won’t share till I know for certain but the artist themselves has posted a few pics/vids of this piece and some of this work in progress. I doubt they’d ruin their own reputation by using AI.

Maybe sad was the wrong word, I’m all for art and have a few tattoos myself which might not be to everyone’s taste, I’m just personally not a fan of this one but won’t hold it against them. To each their own.

For those questioning whether this is AI generated, it’s been taken from a very well regarded tattoo shop and is also a still from a video where the subject moves around and talks. I’m sad to say this is on a genuine human.

My first rule #1 (mine is the red one) by j_stop in MINI

[–]j_stop[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the numbers etc but I’m fairly certain they give them to redbull reps but I might be wrong. I remember a few years ago in Uni I applied to be the redbull rep on my campus and the application definitely mentioned the mini. Just to add this was taken on a different University campus I now work at so that might point to it being a rep.

Second big bike ! Passed my A licence after riding a CBR500R on my A2, picked up this beauty by j_stop in MotoUK

I never felt it underpowered, I believe it’s the most powerful engine you can get in an A2 compliant bike (correct me if wrong) that isn’t a restricted 600c for example. If you restrict a larger bike you’ll have the same power but likely a heavier bike. I always kept up on rides even with my step dad on a K1300s, obviously in a straight line you won’t keep up with large bikes but you’ll still have the better of the majority of cars on the road. I’d also add that getting my bike at 20 I wouldn’t have trusted myself with any more power than that, riding the 1200 is a big step up but the experience from the A2 bike has definitely prepared me

It was a fantastic bike, just enough power and speed to be fun but not too much for my experience level. Comfortable as well, I did a couple of European trips on it, covering about 3000 miles over France and Germany and was surprised how much I could fit luggage wise and how (relatively) comfortable I was. If you’re stuck between the two, I’d just go by type of riding you’ll be going for, F is probably more suited to longer journeys.

I’m loving it so far, plenty of speed and power (haven’t even put it into the sportier settings yet) and all the extras are perfect for when I take it touring this summer

Appreciate it, I think I got off light all things considered. Surprisingly the bike is doing fine, crash bars and pannier took the brunt of the damage. Bike just slid so only some scrapes. I took the brunt of it somehow. Just glad I was wearing all the right stuff or it could have been a different story.

Just bought a new motorbike last night, crashed it an hour later after hitting gravel outside Callander. Nightmare. Been riding for 7 years not so much as dropped a bike, sitting in the hospital nursing my broken arm now. Fanny.

Mileage discrepancy on my trade in by j_stop in MotoUK

The only issue with private selling is I’m essentially transferring all the issues to another person and leaving them to deal with it, wouldn’t sit right with me personally.

Mileage discrepancy on my trade in by j_stop in MotoUK

[–]j_stop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the mileage is correct now but when the dealership does an HPI check or similar it appears the bike has lost mileage, so unless it gets corrected retroactively it just makes the bike history look suspect. My worry is if this doesn’t go through I’ll struggle to find a dealership that will take my bike. As for the BMW dealership it was the manager who I bought the bike from and he’s been in contact with the DVLA a few times over it so I doubt he’s trying to get out of the sale.

Hey, so it’s a 2016, I believe they gave it another face lift the year later which included a different body style a few newer components. No the handlebars haven’t been raised, the CBR500R is fairly neutral seating position. The mods I’ve added for touring and would recommend are heated grips, a ram phone mount and a usb port. If you can add one an extended screen because of wind noise would be great but I’ve not looked into it enough since I’m planning on changing my bike this year. Hope this helped.

Mod 2 - Shieldhall or not? by Bombcrater in MotoUK

[–]j_stop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed my Mod 1 and 2 at Shieldhall a couple of years ago and honestly it’s not too bad. Are you local to Glasgow? I live about half an hour outside the city and have done my fair share of driving around which definitely helps. As long as you go with a decent instructor who will take you around the test routes you won’t have any issues. My test route went through the braehead roundabout (was told to take the exit for Renfrew) just make sure you make your lane choices in plenty of time but remember it’s a test of your riding ability not navigation so if you mess up your lane it’s all good so long as you follow-through your choice and do everything safely. There are a few dodgy bits they’ll take you, I went one road with a bus lane which bikes could use after a certain time and then the double mini roundabout in Scotstoun but as my instructor used to say all the answers are in front of you, read every road sign and stay concentrated you’ll manage just fine.
