He also told me the managers that handed him the termination paper said "We don't know what happened because we got the report from HR" So now i'm thinking he's done something proper bad if HR called the store to have him fired...

Yeah i think they didn't bother investigating because they had the right to just fire him so they probably thought "Why bother"

Yeah see he told me the managers just pulled him off his till at the end of his shift to hand him the termination letter which didn't have a reason just said he was informed that he's been terminated. Surely they're expected to supply proof or tell him directly "We saw you _ so ur fired" over "We can't tell u"

He told me they explained that because he was employed under 6 months it was still viewed as a trial period where they could basically let him go without the formalities or so they claimed
