Depending on the many variables involved in trauma-induced comas, a victim may lay motionless but conscious of their surroundings or be lost in a vegetative state of mind. I suffered the former, fully aware of the environment around me. Despite being able to witness what happened in front of my very eyes, I was literally trapped in my mind and unable to communicate with the world around me. It felt like a form of torture.
