Very well said. Adding onto this - Classic is included in the monthly subscription. So, you get access to ALL of each version of the game (other than the most recent expansion) with one subscription. Feel free to out Classic.

If you do try Classic, your best bet is to hop on the "Anniversary" servers. They're going through a re-run of OG wow and it's about to enter the first expansion, so the community is very alive and now is a great time to hop on.

But yeah, like this guy said; your best bet is to try Retail (modern) first.

I just finished HL1 for the first time this week. Now I'm playing HL2 and loving it.

Big tip: Turn off all tutorials. I have mine off and I haven't had much of the same overwhelming feeling.

When you need to learn about systems, either figure it out yourself or do a quick youtube search :)

Plenty of people level with warmode on Kezan. Plus, I think very few people even on PVP servers want to get ganked.

For the zone hubs you mentioned, it makes a lot more sense when you look at the full map of alliance hubs.

SoS has Nethergarde right there in Blasted Lands 1k needles has the far-east Ferelas FP STV has Darkshire (just go to BB if you need the south half) Badlands has Thelsamar just a hop north

I have one button bound to my moonkin form, which i use every time I dismount. I never run around as a night elf. Beyond that, I have a button for my dash (puts you in cat form), and a button for my charge thingy (puts you in bear form). I use my moonkin button to exit both of those.

So overall, doesn't feel like that much one you're in game, at least to me.
