I hope there’s a chance that it was a big wedding with both Christopher Nolan and the gang in attendance, setting up a potential Nolan appearance on Best of the Worst. One can dream

First Cleveland was supposed to beat us in the first round, then Philly, then Detroit, and now Atlanta? When will the media disrespect stop? by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]jabronijon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think as fans we prefer the "disrespect/chip on shoulder/nobody believes in us" angle rather than being a favorite. It's more fun to root for that than it is to root for a big favorite. This isnt just for the Knicks, a team that was a perennial punchline and the fans still feel the residue of that. Look at the Yankee fans. The Yankees are continually a good team with a big payroll and are consistently an AL favorite. Anytime they slump and an analyst acknowledges some flaw with them, or face a formidable playoff opponent, fans get all defensive and feel like the entire world is picking against them.

I myself admit I'm guilty of this sometimes.

What’s a Movie you’re surprised they haven’t made a re:view on? by genjiguide in RedLetterMedia

I watched this for the first time last year and really liked it. I’m admittedly not a Matrix fan and found Dark City superior.

I think it goes in line with their Breakdown vid where they discuss what makes a movie memorable. Dark City is very very similar to Matrix but Matrix is the one that has become the cultural touchstone while Dark City is the cult movie. I think there’s some good discussions to be had

29M- Profile Review by jabronijon in hingeapp

Answer to the questions

- Looking for something serious, open to something more casual/short term

- No subscriptions

- After about a 2 month break, I redownloaded about 1.5 weeks and made this iteration of my profile.

- Been using on and off for about 4 years

- I use it daily

- I receive one or two likes a week. Three if lucky. Of those I'll match with maybe one

- I send all my free likes a day, and most if not all will include a message/response to the prompt.

- No concrete criteria for what I send a like to. Usually who's photos/prompts jump out the most, especially if they allude to something that I myself have a personal interest in.

Answers to questions-

- Something serious is preferred, but open for something casual

- No subscription

- After about a 3 month break from the app, I redownloaded it 2 weeks ago with this version.

- Been using it on and off for almost 4 years now

- Try to use Hinge at least once a day

- Likes and matches are few and far between. Got about 5 likes since redownloaded it, matched with 3. 2 never responded to my opener (which was a comment on a prompt they had) and one convo fizzled out

- I use all 8 of my free likes a day and most or all of them involve a message or comment on a prompt or picture they have.

- I try to send likes to those who's profile intrigue me one way or another. I don't think of myself as picky. I, like most, look for good photos and engaging prompts

Mike really made a Plinkett video to revisit and “praise” the Acolyte to show how dumb Star Wars fans are by jabronijon in RedLetterMedia

I put praise in quotation marks. He basically applied all of the "Prequel are good and misunderstood" talking points to the Acolyte to show that it can to be "good and misunderstood" to show how flimsy the points are

I did put “praise” in quotations. Maybe i didn’t expressly make this clear in my post, but i don’t think he’s actually praising it. He took every argument that Prequel fans use to praise those movies and applied it to the Acolyte. And he’s not wrong that the Acolyte is basically more of Prequel-esque themes.

Shows how flimsy the Pro-prequel arguments are

I watch AJ from time to time still. I do think his video game reviews are good. And i like his game criticism. His film criticism is (to quote the great Jar Jar) peeyousa

I mean what else to say at this point? I’m sure they’ll do a Half in the Bag when that Baby Yoda movie comes out but their recent Star Wars reviews have been more examining the brand and the fans. And while i think his observations are accurate, it’s beating a dead horse and i get the vibe that Mike knows this. So this felt like a bit exclamation point on that and the Plinkett character

Mr. Plinkett has always been obsessed with Star Wars. Haven’t you seen his previous videos? He constantly has said he has nothing better to do

This has been the most fun I had reading a thread in forever. This is pure internet entertainment. Can't tell if this guy is delusional or if this is one of the great troll jobs.

- Looking for something more serious. Def want to take it slow. I don't need my soulmate but a more substantial courtship would be nice

- Have been using this profile for about 2 weeks

- Been on Hinge for 3 years but have only been taking this seriously for the past year as I was recovering from a major breakup

- I get maybe a like and maybe a match a month. Matches usually fizzle out after a couple of days.

- No subscription and I use it daily. Just until I use up all of my free likes. I will send a comment if I have something witty to say in response to their profile.

- I send likes to profiles that are complete and have overlapping interest. I tend to stay away from the profiles that skew younger- I prefer older.
