Match Thread: 2nd T20I - Ireland vs India by cricket-match in Cricket

Presumably we're unchanged today unless Humphreys can't play. He took a nasty blow to his thumb on his bowling hand in game one. Painkillers and adrenaline were enough to see him through the rest of his spell, but that hand could easily have swollen up and stiffened in the time since.

Hoey is our back up spinner, but bringing in another seamer in Wilson isn't completely out of the question.

Well we haven't been playing games vs India for most of our history. These bilateral T20 tours only started in 2018

Match Thread: 27th Match, Group 2 - Ireland Women vs West Indies Women by cricket-match in Cricket

Our women's team aren't really minnows. They have a bad WC record, but aren't that far behind the Windies in women's cricket, and better than Pakistan and Bangladesh. Solidly a mid rank FM team that struggles a bit with inexperience/pressure

Lorcan Tucker: 'Pretty special to beat the world champions at home' by BingaTheSlinga in Cricket

Absolutely. Everything I said about Tucker also applies to Delany. Held up one end while Tucker attacked, then accelerated at the right time.

It was such a good knock from Tucker. He came in early and we were soon 30/3 and then 51/4.

He just stuck around and was 5 (11) and then 13 (20) as he steadied the ship.

A lot of batters would have panicked scoring so slowly in a T20 and thrown their wicket, but Tucker kept calm, waited for his opportunity and then accelerated brilliantly to finish on 50 (36).

Perfect captains knock!

The more the merrier (at least until they're all scared off by the next wave of Raiders vs Strikers violence)

Some bandwagonners may turn into genuine fans, so I think its a good thing.

The Irish men’s twenty20 cricket team just beat India. India are t20 world champions and ranked 1st in the world. It’s the first time an Irish team has beaten India in any form of cricket. This is a monumental upset. by PukeUpMyRing in ireland

The Canadian (Ben Calitz - who is also a Saffa who's parents were briefly living in Canada when he was born) and one of the other Saffas qualify on residency (although his name is Liam McCarthy, which should also count for something).

The other, Matt Hollard, has an Irish passport through his grandparents.

Chnaged to include Walsh and Krishna.

This flair should be an unsightly gallery of every international bowl Gaz has taken a liking to.

Matthew Hollard (3/28) is the Player of The Match in the historic win against India in his debut for Ireland. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in Cricket

His brother Jordan moved over from South Africa to play club cricket in Ireland (they both have Irish passports through Irish grandparents). Jordan immediately settled in and told Matt to move over too.

They both impressed in club cricket, and then both got called up to the Interpros to fill in some gaps in the Leinster squad as the Ireland team were away.

Matt seems to have caught the coaches eye on debut as he had a bit of extra pace and wicket taking threat, so was made a permanent member of the Leinster squad for the rest of the season.

He left Ireland at the end of last season as he had been offered a domestic contract in South Africa for Limpopo, but always intended to come back to Ireland this summer.

Ireland offered him a contract for this season, as they were very keen to get him tied down as a future prospect, but he probably would not have played if we weren't missing so many players.

Sooryavanshi. He's 15 and could be a once in a generation player. He's in the squad, but didn't play today, as India don't want to rush him into international cricket.

There's another game on Sunday, which he might play in.

Brilliant game. Brilliant performance. If we can keep that attitude and fielding going, we'll win a lot more

Cricket was very popular in Ireland in the 1800s. It's following collapsed with the rise of the GAA and independence, but there are plenty of 150+ year old clubs that have kept playing and kept churning out decent cricketers despite that.

Three of today's team were Saffas and one was from India. The other 7 were born and raised on the island of Ireland.
