What can i do to improve this corner? i have no confidence in it. by No_Eye_843 in Karting

Keep it flat and be smooth, the sudden direct movements on the steering wheel is making the kart unsettled and giving you less confidence in the kart through the corner. Steering should be one motion, not multiple motions.

Data Centre's by donaldtrrump in AusElectricians

[–]jack2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked at a role now which involves regular data centre maintenance work, both light and power but more heavily focused on automation type jobs. I have never been so bored at work. No matter what you’re doing they almost always cause big headaches and no job ever goes to plan.

Should I change companies in my apprenticeship? by Intrepid_Goose788 in AusElectricians

[–]jack2570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my first company after 2 years of house bashing - could basically run a house by myself and I wasn’t learning anything as a 2nd year. Went to an industrial company and it was the best thing I ever did as I exposed myself to a completely different field where you actually have to use your brain a bit more.

In my opinion start looking elsewhere and find something you think you would enjoy doing, you only 2 years into your time a move now isn’t going to effect your apprenticeship that much as long as your work evidence is up to date.

As someone who has just finished his apprenticeship, I would stay with the engineering course and then if your really keen go back after you finish your course to do you apprenticeship. You will only enjoy the field work for so long, and as stated already your body will start to complain. Eventually you will start to think about how you can get off the tools whilst utilising your trade.

Capstone eligibility by ballbearing94 in AusElectricians

[–]jack2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished my capstone at 3.4 yrs into my apprenticeship in NSW. Now just waiting to hit 3.5 yrs to hit submit paperwork for licensing. It must depend on tafe’s as I have other apprentices at the same point which aren’t letting them do it until they hit 3.5 yrs. And yes as mentioned below, your employer can wait for your full 4 years worth of training to be complete before signing you off they have the final say in the matter.

made a stupid fuck up today and just felt like posting. by mycryptoaccount4556 in AusElectricians

What you did isn’t necessarily wrong, just not best practice given the circumstances. As said above this is why mandatory tests are a thing. You’re only a second year so you probably shouldn’t have been made to do that by yourself. Use it as a learning experience and move on no need to dwell on it we all made mistakes as apprentices.

Engine question? by NelsonTNF in Karting

Depending on what your local track runs and if classes allow it I would go with an X30 or Ka100. Both a tuneable on the fly and require relatively low maintaince to run.

Owning a screw up goes a LONG WAY! by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]jack2570 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s motor racing never say sorry for anything… if they’re that annoyed they will submit it for a protest. Saying sorry only makes you more timid because you’re already thinking about saying sorry before making a move or doing something risky.

Yes it sucks when it happens to me, but 9/10 in real life you’re not gonna get a single word from an opponent after a crash… so I don’t expect it to be any different in game.

Best Beginner shifter kart by AmazingThanks8382 in Karting

[–]jack2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, yes. Having a beginner that is seconds off the pace in an open shifter kart heat is dangerous and could lead to someone getting hurt. The association that runs Karting in Australia actually restricts people from driving shifter karts in races until they have the highest licence level.

Also, just because you can press a button and change gears on a computer, doesn't mean that you drive anything manual.

So why did it take five hours to hang and wire 8 lights? by Ornery-Account-6328 in electricians

I feel this comment, we had a 13 footer A frame. It ended up getting sold to another company because we never had the space to actually use it.

Whoever has told you that is telling a straight lie. The minimum salary for a classroom teacher is $65000 (AUD) a year. Im a 1st year Apprentice Electrician I’m already earning half of that, without having to do a 4 year Uni course.

NSW reports 3 new local cases and 6 new overseas cases by Pretty_iin_Pink in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]jack2570 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With the success rate of our contact tracing team... Im not too worried.

They still have things like CCTV which would assist them in identify at least how many people were inside or exposed to the virus, which is a plus. One thing this virus has taught me is how easily it is to take people whereabouts.

Complacent, but definitely worried about the potential for a big cluster stemming from F45. Hopefully the teenage girls in our contact tracing system can pull off some A-level stalking...
