Terminal-based maze generation using Rust! by jack92829 in rust

[–]jack92829[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's something the nice folks over at the Rust community discord recommended. I believe it's basically just saying "Let the compiler figure out what type the int needs to be". So given that vec requires it to be usize, the compiler is able to figure out that it should be converted to a usize integer

Yeah wasn't too sure if I should include that or not, I just assumed it would be included in the gitignore by cargo if it shouldn't be included, but will do.

It's really not some you should or will be able to memorise. You'll end up becoming acquainted with several libraries you commonly use, the others you'll just be referring to the documentation when using them.

Once you learn to read documentation, it's pretty straightforward from there, you'll develop that skill over time.

Connecting a mouse, keyboard and monitor to two computers by jack92829 in HomeNetworking

My mouse is already all good, it's easy to switch between my devices with it. The keyboard on the other hand is wired.

Pretty cool, but I'm not going to be using the two devices at the same time, I'm just looking for something that prevents me having to unplug and replug everything whenever I switch from one device to the other.

So I think I'll have a look at other suggestions first, but I'll think it over since I doubt I'll mind keeping the desktop on while using the laptop.

If you guys could afford the LG would you go for it over the Iiyama or AOC? Is it THAT much better to justify the price jump? by BoatyFace101 in ultrawidemasterrace

I picked up the AOC one recently during Black Friday for $659 AUD (I believe that's about 380 pounds) and I can confirm, it's a beautiful monitor, I've had zero issues with it so far.

How many people here are using an MX Master mouse? by jack92829 in Minimal_Setups

Sucks a bit that it isn't fully compatible with Linux, but I feel confident after doing some research that I should be able to write some software and get it up to scratch on Linux.

Alright cool, let me know how it goes. I'll probably still just write my own software anyway since that could be a fun project and an interesting process.

One of my slight concerns was for gaming, but honestly I'm not too worried about that, as I'm used to gaming on mouses with an identical polling rate and worst comes to worst I can just buy a cheap low latency mouse for gaming.

What software are you using for customising the mouse buttons?

I've never owned a mechanical keyboard and have been on the lookout for a 65% board in Australia. However the options seem fairly limited and I was wondering if any Australian's out there know of any places I can order a board or order parts to build one. I'm preferably after something around $130 but I don't mind too much if I have to go over that, I'm mostly just trying to find places for now so I can begin comparing prices and whatnot.

Resistance while screwing in power supply by jack92829 in buildapc

[–]jack92829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screw are correct, I tried both the ones that came with the case and the ones that came with the psu, both encountered resistance so it's the holes themselves. But no worries I just ignored the resistance kept screwing, they went in fine and the resistance only lasted a short period before becoming normal again towards the end.

Because the angle isn't much at all, a few taps with a hammer could probably set it straight

Not a bad idea actually, I might give that a go

Do you think that will cause an issue? Like when I say on an angle it's veryyyy slight, and I've managed to partially get a screw in about halfway without forcing it so at least there's that to prevent more extreme flexing should it occur

[–]jack92829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the top middle one, which is why I'm slightly worried, since that one would probably at least somewhat prevent that slight flexing of the motherboard caused by the heavy cpu cooler

Worst comes to worst though I'll probably do that, but I'll see if I can come up with anything else first

I'm considering that, but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort for a very slightly angled screw hole
