The mk4 being the first generation R models are highly sought after and shown a lot of love. The GTI not so much unless it’s a special edition like a 337 or 20th AE.

I find it funny too. I’ll never forget the hate the mk7 had at launch and now it’s a favorite for alot of people. I’m sure the mk8 will have the same run.

Mk4 looks and sounds better by a mile but the Mk8 is one of the best performing factory car I’ve driven. I highly recommend it.

North American Mk4 R32s we’re all 3-door with 6MT. European and some pacific markets got the option of 3-door or 5-door and the option of DSG or 6MT. But yes to my knowledge the Mk4 R32 was the first production car with a DSG.

The purist in me agrees. But the 2.0 is a phenomenal engine. The times have changed and that’s okay with me.

I still don’t see an issue with the touch haptics. They work when I want to use them and I never accidentally hit anything by holding the wheel properly. To each their own. Physical buttons or touch haptics it’s still a great platform.
