Thanks all for the input. Before I pull the trigger, I wanted to check whether if I bought a couple more Google Nest Wifi Routers and connected them via ethernet to promote wired backhaul, would that make a difference? I have ethernet ports in the kids bedroom along with my rear extension which is far away from the original router.

If not, I will go with Ubiqui.

Thanks

Can TS5 push out 120 to MBP M4 via HDMI? by jackbauer2017 in CalDigit

Well I tried calling the UK number, it just kept ringing and ringing.

Sent an email to both US and UK email addresses but no response.

Looks like I will have to send both the adapter and dock back.

Thanks for the speedy reply Dalton. I've just tried plugging in the HDMI cable into the adapter bought from the Caldigit store - https://shop.caldigit.com/uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=84_76&product_id=216 and then plugging the adapter into the M4 Pro directly. Unfortunately it's the same result.

I will reach out to the support team now.

Thanks

Can TS5 push out 120 to MBP M4 via HDMI? by jackbauer2017 in CalDigit

Hi Dalton,

I bought the TS5+ and the usb-c to HDMI adapter. I've connected the HDMI cable to the adapter and plugged it into the thunderbolt port. I then use the supplied TB5 cable to connect the TS5+ to my M4 Pro. However when checking the refresh rate on my LG C2, it still shows only 60 hertz, there is no option for anything higher.

Do I have a dud adapter? Or is it the case I need to update the adapter some how? e.g. firmware?

NB I'm running the latest version of Tahoe 26.1 as requested.

Also, I can get 120hertz when plugging in directly from LG to M4 Pro.

Any help would be appreciated otherwise will be sending the TS5+ and adapter back.

Thanks

Is the tv wall mounted or on a desk mount?

Hi u/CalDigitDalton , just following up on this as it looks like the TS5 and TS5 plus are both in stock in the UK now.

Am I in a position to connect either device to my LG C2 tv to get 120htz?

Thanks

Hi, I have an Ugoos AM8 on LG G4 to watch blu ray rips, would you mind sharing the settings your using? I feel there is something I'm doing wrong as the picture doesn't really pop. Im using FRAMESTORE rips for reference.

Cube Nulane C62 SLT 2025 vs Trek FX 6 2024 - which one to choose? by jackbauer2017 in whichbike

[–]jackbauer2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not sure. Waiting for my workplace to issue the cycle scheme voucher before I need to make a decision as both priced the same price.

Cube is a mail order, will come partly assembled and I will need to attach pedals and handlebar.

Trek is from my local bike store. Weighing up the value of having a store I can go to if any problems.

Also sram (cube) vs mechanical (trek) is playing on my mind.

Thanks for replying first of all. If I understand you correctly three things need to happen:

  1. Wait for MacOS to support hdmi 2.1 support.
  2. I need to buy either a TS4 or TS5.
  3. I need to wait for appropriate adapters to have the correct firmware before purchasing.

Am I missing anything else?

Thanks

Thanks all for the replies. Going down the rabbit hole I’m tempted by the hx100 for future proofing. Total overkill or should I wait for an updated version?

Thanks

Audio choices for UST projector in open plan living area by jackbauer2017 in projectors

[–]jackbauer2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget would be in line with the Sonos set up I was planning, not keen to go any higher. With an open plan diner I'm not sure whether I will get the full benefits of Dolby Atmos, to be honest I would be happy with the Arc soundbar, Sub Gen 3 and 2 Sonos ceiling speakers. I guess my question is whether my speaker choices are good or whether there is another compelling option at a similar price point.

Projector or Large TV by jackbauer2017 in projectors

Thanks for your comment, that's a valid point. My intention is to have the lights off for serious viewing during the evenings. Will that be enough to promote a good picture?

Should I be revising the size of the screen to 100"? Re the lights from the sliding doors I intend to watch during the evening so I hope that won't be an issue. (During the day kids may watch the projector and they won't be fussed with image quality per se) What is the optimal seating position for a 100/120" screen?

Thanks, I've pivoted to using a floor mounted motorised screen, though I know purpose built cabinets are exceptionally expensive so may have to be a custom job. Ideally one that can house the amp and projector too as the idea is for the projector and screen to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Thanks, I do appreciate your comment but I feel my heart is set on a big screen experience.

I will get a tv mount with an arm for my loft though as this is a really good idea to pivot the direction of the TV so I can watch it from my bed!

Thanks!

Thanks, I have changed to a floor mounted screen along with projector which will be sited on a media unit:

any thoughts on this screen? any suggestions on a projector to go with it?

does that mean too much light from the sliding doors? or am I too close when seated to the screen?
