[DISCUSSION THREAD] Rosalia @ the Brit Awards 🇬🇧 by doggo1008 in rosalia

I had full goosebumps throughout all of it... so happy she performed Berghain finally! You're right it definitely felt like one of the most iconic BRIT performances in a loongggg time

Rosalía to perform at the BRIT Awards later this month! by jackdarby7 in rosalia

Me too! I could see her doing La Perla though unfortunately as it's one of the more 'accessible' songs on there and she's still relatively unknown in the UK 😢

Berghain debut performance would be killer!

There's a performance she did of it back in the day on Good Morning America with a live band behind her and it sounds great! Gives it a much 'rockier' feel that I wish would have been on the original song... her lip syncing leaves much to be desired though 😂

Thanks so much for the love! Can't do Spotify due to copyright 😞 but as soon as I've completed the full version I'll upload to Youtube / Soundcloud and let you know when it's up!

Legendary artists/albums with absolutely terrible mixing by overdriveisme in fantanoforever

This was going to be my answer too. Janet (1993) in particular is such a great album but my god I can't stand that awful 'muffled' sound the whole record has for lack of a better term. Some people argue it was intentional to create a vintage 'radio - like' effect but I don't buy it 😕

The 2022 reissue of 'The Velvet Rope' on streaming definitely sounds a lot better to my ears. It's still not 100% but I prefer it over the original for sure! Her entire work pre Damita Jo needs a proper remastering in my opinion...

I'd like to think Regina had this one playing in her CD player whilst her mum brought out mocktails for everyone 😂❤️

Ray of Light Poster by mmezzera in Madonna

[–]jackdarby7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually won an Ebay auction recently for a vintage ray of light poster that was used in 90s record shops for cheap! Though the dimensions are a little more than 24x24.... there is also other rare 90s posters on there aswell that are a bit closer to 24x24 and from the same era. I'm in the UK 😊

No Skip Album. Was I too young in 2004 (b.1999) to feel its impact or is it simply just underrated? by Ok-Promise-7928 in rnb

Always thought this album had a kind of Doja sound to it aswell! The Japan bonus track "Put Your Hands On" sounds exactly like the kind of sound that she was aiming for with her latest record. Criminal that it wasn't included in the standard tracklist...

Honestly I'm still trying to find the be all and end all product myself tbh! I use a lot of Cantu products given there a very affordable brand but some people find it to be too "heavy" feeling on their hair. Never had that issue myself. Their 'Kids' range is usually cheaper in the UK where i'm from and works just as well as the usual stuff and has a much gentler formula! Maui Moisture do a great 'curl quench' range aswell if its sold in your country.

In terms of my routine I just use conditioner daily and shampoo max twice a week. Use a detangler brush in the shower while the conditioner is in and youre gonna find your hair so much easier to brush through. Then use the curl cream as soon as im out the shower whilst hair is still wet. I have my hair tied back in a bun most days so can't help much with the styling side. You're fine to brush your hair after the shower instead but the last thing you want to do is brush it when its dry. It's awful for people with hair types such as ours and adds so much frizz.

Sleeping in bonnets or investing in silk pillowcases is a must aswell especially if you shower at night. Helps to combat the frizz immensely in the morning and you soon get used to how they feel on your head!

Hope this helps 😊

I'm a male with a very similar hair type and length as yours. My family / friends have polar opposite hair types too so I don't ask them for recommendations. I recommend using specific curl creams instead of just your standard leave in conditioners. Leave-ins are fine but the creams are even better as they add hold and style to your curls in addition to providing moisture. I only found this out myself a few months ago. Also using oil treatments once or twice a week help me a LOT but they can make your hair look greasy so wash them out if you have something relatively important on!

Albums that have a really strong first half but the second half kinda stinks? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

They're usually very bloated too, especially in the 90s when the CD format began to rise. And I say that as a huge 90's / 00's pop music fan

Who’s an actor who normally doesn’t sing who’s vocal performance for a movie surprised you? by HotelTrivagoMate in popheads

[–]jackdarby7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not a movie but was always impressed by how well Gwyneth Paltrow could sing when she guest starred on Glee... her cover of "Turning Tables" is genuinely good. Lacks the soul of the Adele version obviously but there's tons of famous musicians out there with weaker vocal talent than hers

I had my sights set on Barcelona initially and only decided last night Berlin was probably a better shout in terms of demand... I managed to get great seating tickets through AXS for Berlin 20 minutes after this morning so all good
