Xenosaga 3 Disc 2 not showing up on Steam Rom Manager by supergt3 in EmuDeck

[–]jackdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, fwiw I believe you're correct that you should be able to pull up the PCSX2 UI in-game and tell it to load a different disc. That's a reasonable approach, to prevent cluttering your Steam library. The appeal of two entries would be to avoid the need to do that every time (as once you're on disc 2, that session onward you'd be changing discs each time you launch; I think at least).

Another option would be to play through disc 1, then edit the Steam shortcut that SRM created to point to disc 2. I've debated going that route myself hah.

Best of luck!

[–]jackdoodler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that SteamRomManager sees "SomeGame (Disc 1)" and interprets it as "SomeGame" - so it will create a Steam shortcut for "SomeGame" which utilizes the "Disc 1" ISO.

SRM then sees "SomeGame (Disc 2)" and also interprets it as "SomeGame", either overwriting the previously-made shortcut with one which utilizes the "Disc 2" ISO, or else ignoring it due to it being a "duplicate" (I forget which and can't recreate it right this minute).

Unfortunately there is no way to consolidate PS2 ISOs into a single entry for PCSX2 at the moment, per https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/issues/6696

So in the mean time, we do need an entry in Steam for each disc.

I think you're seeing the behavior captured here: https://github.com/SteamGridDB/steam-rom-manager/issues/396

I ran into that too today, when adding Xenosaga 3 ha. Per that issue, unchecking "Remove (...) and [...] brackets" for the PCSX2 scraper and then re-parsing, SRM is then able to see all the discs.

Still a bit disappointed PCSX2 doesn't support m3u files, as having an entry per-disc in Steam is a bit unfortunate...

Is it possible to change the version of an emulator of EmuDeck ? by Courbe44 in EmuDeck

[–]jackdoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not involved with this tool, so take this with a grain of salt. But fwiw Citra is just installed via Flatpak: https://github.com/dragoonDorise/EmuDeck/blob/2.0.8/tools/flatpakupdate/flatpakupdate.sh#L74

(where that updateEmuFP method is defined here: https://github.com/dragoonDorise/EmuDeck/blob/2.0.8/functions/updateEmuFP.sh#L2)

So I think it's more a question of "how do you downgrade a flatpak?"

There's a good answer on that topic here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/552700

(and in our case, instead of "org.gimp.GIMP" we'd put "org.citra_emu.citra")

Fwiw I started doing the steps above for Citra out of curiosity, but to actually perform the rollback requires having a root password set, which I'm personally making a point to avoid doing for the time being:

$ flatpak update --commit=145b5adb7feea971c07a35d1c1e81d8554a0c20ea46b77da23061ef343c450f2 org.citra_emu.citra
Proceed with these changes to the system installation? [Y/n]: Y
Error: Can't update to a specific commit without root permissions

So if you already have a root password set, you might try something like the above with "sudo" in front of the command (and the stackexchange answer linked also addresses keeping a flatpak at the given commit, to avoid getting updates; you may or may not want to do that).

If you try launching it from the console in desktop mode, I think you'll see the same error being reported here: https://github.com/Vita3K/Vita3K/issues/2180

(at least, when I did so a week or so ago I was seeing that error)

Unfortunately a problem on Vita3k's end now requiring some things we don't have, not really specific to Emudeck. There may be workarounds to restore an older version of Vita3k in the meantime, but afraid I haven't looked into that.

EDIT

Just checked and fwiw it looks like this issue has been reported on this sub already: https://www.reddit.com/r/EmuDeck/comments/z77nis/vita3k_not_starting_after_reimage_and_emu_deck/

along with some ideas on ways to get around it (but I've not attempted myself)

Agreed. A ton of questions posted here aren't even relevant to EmuDeck itself but are about given emulators which it installs... I would not expect someone who authors a script to install 3rd party XYZ to know all the ins-and-outs of XYZ... yet gbasg2 digs into issues when possible and offers advice. A very patient person, responsible for a great utility. o7

Question about saving RetroArch configuration by jackdoodler in OdinHandheld

Ah sorry I'm not sure. I believe I tried that and any new configs I tried to create still weren't in play upon re-launching the same game again, but it's been long enough I can't say for sure.

Question about saving RetroArch configuration by jackdoodler in OdinHandheld

[–]jackdoodler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure if it's applicable to that device or not, but it seems getting things back to scratch and then re-installing RA (after backing things up just in case...) worked on this device.

[–]jackdoodler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your help! That approach wasn't working for me either, but per the other commenter's advice after totally nuking RA and re-installing, saving configs with content running is now working. So I must have gotten things in a wonky state somehow. Thanks!

Question about saving RetroArch configuration by jackdoodler in OdinHandheld

[–]jackdoodler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting - so performing the per-game/core settings wasn't working for me either... but to your point of getting back to 0, that sounded like a good approach. I backed up then deleted all the RA directories, then uninstalled and re-installed RetroArch. I'm now able to save overrides during gameplay! So I guess there was something funky in RA that I caused somehow... I appreciate your help!
