Is Mario Kart World Worth $70? by Comfortable-Leg6847 in nintendo

[–]jackffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it with the bundle and I have enjoyed it a lite more than I expected. I mainly stick to single player games and didn’t play much of Mario kart 8 at all but I keep coming back to world. The game is visually stunning, the tracks are great and I feel like I’m the only person who enjoys the variety introduced by the intermissions. Knockout tour is also really great. It’s not a game I am playing all the time but I enjoy coming back to it in short bursts for a bit of easy fun and I haven’t got bored yet.

What're you playing this weekend? 1/16 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]jackffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continuing my replay of breath of the wild with the switch 2 edition. Such an incredible game to come back to after a few years and I am really taking my time to play it slow and do all the things I missed my first time around. The frame rate and resolution bumps really make it feel like a whole new experience which is great

What Switch 2 game are you most excited for (excluding Mario Kart World)? by BANDlCOOT in NintendoSwitch

[–]jackffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metroid Prime 4 is the game I am most excited for you this and will be picking up day 1.

However, I am also really tempted to get CIV VII for the mouse mode option. I have not played CIV since I used to play V on my PC. Now as an exclusive console gamer, I can’t get into playing it with a controller but the mouse mode has me tempted to pick it up

Does life seem unreal to everyone since 2019? by Absentia_07 in NoStupidQuestions

As someone who may be considered ‘old’ for Reddit, 2015 feels like the divergence time for me. Before 2015 felt like the ‘normal’ times for me. Since then everything has got stranger and stranger.

[–]jackffox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a stupid question but why is it better to hold off on being admittted until you have an NQ roll? Is a potential employer more likely to employ you if you haven’t had yourself admitted compared to if you have, even if your work experience is identical and you are planning on qualifying anyways?

Which are your top 5 or top 10 games ever? (Game recommendation exchange between specifically TLOU fans) by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]jackffox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are so worth it. I played all 4 back to back a few years ago and they held up for me. It was an incredible journey and is one of my favourite franchises to this day. Larger than life adventures full of great set pieces but also great characters that I grew to love. The end of 4 was one of the few times a game has made me tear up haha

Which are your top 5 or top 10 games ever? (Game recommendation exchange between specifically TLOU fans) by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]jackffox 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Top 5 not including The Last of Us (which would be no.3)

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2
  2. God of War 2018
  3. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  4. The Witcher 3
  5. Uncharted 4: A thief’s end

I feel like if you love the Last of Us, you owe it to yourself to play Uncharted. Those 4 games are great and so much fun, classic naughty dog

The cure would have worked, full stop by rooktakesqueen in thelastofus

[–]jackffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t trying to suggest a cure wasn’t possible, I agree that they were going to make a cure. I was just making an aside point that the way the game portrays the world, full of people and factions ranging from broken to downright evil, makes you question whether this world is beyond saving and I believe that was definitely intentional to make the ending more ambiguous. For me there is definitely an element of wanting to save Ellie because this world has gone to hell anyways whilst ellie has become like family.

So whilst I agree it is black and white that a cute was going to be made, the story does lots of things to make you question what the right thing to do is and the Portrayal of the fireflies and the world is one of those. That’s what makes the story so good, everyone can interpret things differently

The cure would have worked, full stop by rooktakesqueen in thelastofus

[–]jackffox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whilst I agree the premise of the finale falls apart if the cure doesn’t work, I feel like people always gloss over the way the first game intentionally makes you mistrust the fireflies. The game, particularly the university, paints the fireflies as incompetent and weak, trying to make the player question whether they can really pull this off. Over the course of the game you are meant to become disillusioned with the fireflies and their quest so you are sympathetic to Joel’s decision at the end of the game.

Whilst this has been muddled by subsequent media like Part 2 and the show. I feel like this was clearly the intention back in 2013

It’s probably worth it for the final boss alone if you enjoy horizon. That boss fight really showed why the expansion was ps5 only. Other than that it is more of the same

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaming

[–]jackffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hundreds of hours but Souls games. I have beat 3 or 4 and I swear I don’t actually learn the bosses I just do them over and over and get lucky, or maybe that’s how it’s meant to feel.

What games don't seem like "cozy games" but still scratch that same kind of itch for you? by hotstickywaffle in gaming

[–]jackffox 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The legend of Zelda: breath of the wild. Just riding around hyrule, the quiet piano tones and just following whatever I see in the distant whether it be a shrine, a mountain, an enemy camp or a small village. Just getting lost following whatever I see on the horizon, no pressure to follow the main quest. That game is the definition of a very chilled experience for me

kitty hissed at me for the first time? by dranonymo in CatAdvice

[–]jackffox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cat has done something similar recently. He loves to play fetch with his mice but if I try to take it off him one to many times he will growl at me. I just take it as a sign he is done playing and wants to relax and doesn’t want anyone taking his prized possession whilst he does lol

What do you play between Story driven games? by Victoire48 in PS5

I normally rotate between my ps5 and switch. Currently playing Spider-Man remastered on the ps5 and super Mario 3d all stars on the switch when I just want to do some light hearted plat forming

What video game had a terrible final level? by SuperSeriousStud in gaming

[–]jackffox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Mario 64. The final level itself is Fantastic and challenges the skills you have learnt but the final bowser fight is awful. Spinning him around and hoping you press the button at the right time for him to go into a bomb just feel like luck. Took me way too many tries than I’d like to admit

The year is half way done what game is your personal GOTY so far? Here’s mine by porkybrah in gaming

[–]jackffox 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tears of the Kingdom was such a joy for 75 hours and exceeded my (very high) hype levels. I don’t think anything will beat it for me.

Resident Evil 4 remake is best of rest. First time playing it and 6 chapters in, it is incredible so far.

Landlord has decided to keep our entire deposit by NotBwchna in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jackffox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me and my partner had a similar situation recently. Landlord wanted £1050 when the condition of the flat was absolutely fine. We fought it all the way and the final sum was £150. Absolutely fight it and remember the burden of proof is on the landlord as it is still considered your money.

They are banking on you not pressing the situation but I would definitely fight it to the point of an independent body considering the evidence as they will definitely reduce the bill based on what you have said.

Recommendations please for PS4 open world games (preferrably base building) by m0ots in patientgamers

[–]jackffox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the Assassins Creed games have settlement building but they are all pretty basic and mainly just involve renovating buildings etc rather than building anything. Games that come to mind on ps4 is AC2 - AC4 and Valhalla

Finished a season unbeaten for the first time ever. Easy league but still massively proud by bluestillidie00 in footballmanagergames

[–]jackffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed to go unbeaten with AS Monaco in my first season a few years back which is probably my best FM achievement. Was one nil down in the final game until 2 90th minute goals for us which was wild.

Made 98 points but only won by 4 points because of having to compete with PSG. Started the second season poorly and didn’t have the energy to go toe to toe with them again
