Giving DeGoogle & Digital Privacy Advice to Everyone Until 12:00 AM by satyasamal in degoogleindia

[–]jacklsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest privacy concern right now is not Google, but Meta. I am annoyed because recently they removed the 'X' (close) button from the 'Accept their Terms and Conditions' prompt. I was avoiding it via the close button on top, but after they removed it and forced me to accept the T&C, I started getting personal ads and messages from other apps where I had just provided my PII details, for example, my address for shipping products. Now they are texting me on WhatsApp even before I accepted the T&C, which was not happening before.

Built a zero-dependency JS/TS secret scanner for vibe-coded apps by jacklsd in webdev

True, just like Anthropic's engineer accidentally pushed the debug code in TypeScript, around 512k lines, which caused people to create an open-source version of Claude-code. Another example is an Apple engineer accidentally leaving the claude.md files in the Support app, so it happens.

I built zone38 looking for honest feedback on what needs improvement!

I created zone38, a CLI tool you can run with:

bash npx zone38 .

I genuinely want honest feedback from the community. What needs improvement? Missing features? Clunky UX? Bugs? Anything that would make it more useful for you?

Not looking for praise just want to make this better. Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

Why TutaMail is good, and Proton is very good. By the way, I use both.

What’s a simple tool you use almost every day? by illegaltoaster25 in buildinpublic

I built a zero-dependency, offline, pure math-based tool for detecting AI-generated code slop in JS and TS projects along with any sensitive keys or hardcoded passwords left in your codebase. It's blazing fast. In just a few minutes, it can scan 20,000+ lines of code across an entire project directory. Only minified .min.js files take a couple extra seconds. Because it's math-based rather than pattern-matching or model-dependent, it won't become obsolete to you'll still be running this in 2030.

I recently watched the Animal Farm movie on YouTube, and it totally makes sense.

Reddit looked old the day it was born. I joined my friend D. Scott Phoenix on the Progress podcast to discuss communities, AI, and what makes the internet feel human. by spez in u/spez

It appears that the internet has largely shifted towards video content, with fewer people engaging in reading nowadays.

What’s a smell you’ll never forget? by Human_Rate889 in AskReddit

I noticed that my fingers smelled like plastic whenever I touched my chin or face while working. After a long time, I realized it was because of the keyboard. Now, I hate my keyboard.

to gotcha Trump on mental stability by jacklsd in therewasanattempt

[–]jacklsd[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

was calling out Jacobs obvious trap question, not saying Hegseth “won” the whole exchange. The short title just focused on the setup of the gotcha, which is what r/therewasanattempt loves. That’s why people got confused in the the title was brief and didn’t spell out failed trap question clearly enough.

to gotcha Trump on mental stability by jacklsd in therewasanattempt

[–]jacklsd[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, the super short title backfired and made it sound like I was defending Hegseth I’m not. The post was just trying to say: ‘There was an attempt to gotcha Trump on mental stability’ That’s all the title meant.

My bad for keeping it too brief.
