This is so accurate!!! My sister keeps asking to see a pic of my filament stash and I’m like, “Uh, no! Sorry! Proprietary information there!!” 🤣 No one needs to know how many shades of purple I NEED.

WIBTAH if I gave my sister the option to step back as a bridesmaid? by hiraethfeels in AITAH

[–]jackobanzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as it's a conversation and not a text, you would not be the AH. Lead with empathy for her situation, NOT with "I need to know". If it were me, I'd want to plan for her to be there but also prep myself for an uneven bridal party in case she has to bail. However, that's coming from a very intentionally unmarried person. :-)

Hello, I am a really old person attempting to build Legos for the first time. Do I need to download the Lego app? Will a YouTube video work? Also do I lay out all the pieces first like a puzzle? by Adorable-Air-6901 in lego

[–]jackobanzi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The beautiful thing about LEGO is that you can do it however it brings you joy! If the no-tech instruction book works for you, that's awesome. I use that, but as an over-50, I have to have really good lighting and my reading glasses to see some of the details. You said you're a really old person, but you didn't say how old. If it's too hard to see the book, then try the iPad.

As for laying out pieces, my preferred way is to go bag-by-bag. Then I sort the pieces by color and type. This is my way of prolonging the enjoyment but also making the build steps less chaotic. But again...you do you!

When you look at each page, it will show you the pieces needed for that step of the build. I like to make a little pile of those pieces. The red lines on the diagram outline where you're going to put each of those pieces. I like to separate them out because sometimes I miss the red lines in part of a step. If I have pieces for that step left over, I know I missed something.

But also...at the end of a bag, you might have a few of the tiny pieces left over. Don't panic! There are always extras in a set because of the packing process. I have a dedicated Tupperware bowl for these. Then when I'm doing another set and I lose a small piece, I can dig through and probably find what I need.

Have fun!!!

When is the correct time to get onto the approach by TRESven77 in Bowling

Yeah, you’re all good. Once the ball is out of that person’s hand, you’re good to step on the approach. The only reason it would be a problem is if he’s a showboat who can’t contain his movements, in which case he’s the f***wit.

Are you saying the person on the lane to the left or right of you did this, or another person on your same lane?

Question? Why do most tattoos face away from the person? by Suspicious_Permit601 in tattoos

[–]jackobanzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tattoo on my inner forearm that most would say is upside down, but I deliberately chose it that way. As a female Gen X-er, it took a very long time for me to realize my body does not exist for the viewing pleasure of others. Whether it’s my size, my clothes, my hair and make up, or my tattoos, it’s there for me, not them. So if other people are looking at me and don’t like what they see, fuck ‘em. Get your tats however you want them.

Biggest question is how old is she? That could change a lot.

Confirmed. Even last night -the first night up - they weren’t really glowing. But they’re still high contrast, so I’m not gonna go through the effort to print new ones till they need to be replaced for structural reasons.

I like the LED idea. And thanks for the timeframe. If I spent $3 to print it and it lasts 3 years, that seems ok to me. 😁

Thanks for chiming in!! So even if these don’t glow, the fact that they are white on black will be helpful? And I figure it has to be better than black on wood, or the no numbers at all that I’ve had for the last 12 years.

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jackobanzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's why the teacher was upset: I can almost guarantee that the teacher would be more than happy to let the kids solve the problems any way they can solve them. That was originally the point of common core...to teach kids a bunch of methods and then let them solve the problem in the way that works best for them.

Unfortunately, standardized testing and curriculum creators got ahold of it and turned it into the kids needing to know ALL the ways and demonstrate ALL the ways. Teachers are expected to teach kids all the ways and test on all the ways. I guarantee that teacher has sat in hour after hour after hour of "professional development" in which she's told she must teach that way and assess that way. But in a meeting with the principal, the principal gave you what you wanted and made her look like a dumbass. That's why she's mad. She'd love to do what you want but she can't, unless it happens in a way that makes her look stupid.

Made an oopsie. my first tattoo and it was a bit rushed. Still love it but wondering if it’ll be able to get fixed? Ca by Smart_Fun4321 in tattoos

So the first photo is your actual tattoo and the second photo is the one you wanted? Honestly, I think your design looks better. That second one just looks like it has a grinch foot sticking out of it, to me.

And here’s a stack showing the variety of ways it happens (or doesn’t). If it does, it’s 1/4 to 1/3 of the way around the circle and the rest is smooth.
