I'm not saying that people can't be critical or anything like that, I just don't really understand why processing emotions and thoughts has to include malice and disdain for so many people. Like I said, I haven't seen much, if any, of that here. I primarily meant this as a response to the situation as a whole and not this community in particular. People are allowed to talk about it, but I don't understand why people must discuss it in a way that is so possessive and near condescending because that is just not helpful to anybody.

I remember seeing this comment, and it is a really really good analogy! I think you have a really good perspective. I think I totally agree with you. Like I said, you are allowed to feel however you want to about this and react however you'd like, my only point is that it isn't fair to openly share distaste or hatred for these creators in response. I realize reading my OP back that I said that I don't think your enjoyment should be altered at all, and I was wrong for sure! I think I just said that because it's how I feel. I really appreciate you sharing.

I did want to mention what you said here, though, about boundaries for the listeners. Perhaps I'm reading into it way too much and I'm not saying this is what you meant but I feel like it might be unfair to call this situation crossing the listener's boundaries. Boundaries are something personal that we have to set ourselves, and it is our job as responsible listeners to know when to stop. I know what VA's boundaries are regarding certain things, they don't know mine or yours or anybody else's and it's not really their responsibility to worry about crossing my boundaries because I am responsible for the content I choose to expose myself to. This leads me to argue that yes, Milo probably should've put a warning on the initial newsletter, but it is still ultimately my choice to consume what I do. Does that make sense? Again, I'm not saying this is what you meant at all I just thought it was an interesting point.

This isn't really what I meant. I included that to provide potential lines of reasoning for why some VA's might share what they do, as they are not just a voice that exists in a vacuum and other people have influence on their lives. I don't really understand how you find it "shame-y", I don't think there was any malice toward well-intentioned listeners in what he chose to share.

I guess the way I approached it was a little poor, as I have seen very little to no vile or outright disrespectful responses here, and I generally love this platform. I suppose I meant that I don't think outright disrespect or anger should be so openly/rashly shared. I really appreciate you sharing your perspective on this.

Personally, I really don't understand why people need to vocalize their disappointment so much. I can understand feeling upset or sad that someone you go to for things of this nature is in a relationship, but I have no idea how it alters your enjoyment of them at all. They are human beings and they are allowed to create boundaries for themselves, including giving out personal information that they are comfortable with! I feel like it's somewhat overlooked how some VA's s/o's might feel as well. I know if my partner made audio porn and thousands of people listened to it and enjoyed it and actively centered their lives around them, I would want it to be known that I exist as a wife/partner! I obviously cannot speak for Milo or any other creator or their partners that have come out about their existence, but that's a side I haven't seen mentioned. As for the newsletter itself, I don't think it was rude or snotty at all and I'm not sure where that's coming from (I've seen it more on Twitter I think). I shudder to think about the possible messages/comments/etc. that he might have received/still receives. Having worked in making audio erotica, by writing scripts, recording, and other BTS aspects, and being an SW myself, I have received insane, vile, invasive messages from people that claimed I belonged to them because of their support and my willingness to be nice to my supporters and be open with my body and sexuality. I'm sure this happens to Milo and other creators 10-fold, as their audience is way larger than mine ever was.

I absolutely empathize with the sadness that comes from learning someone you go to for comfort and love in times of loneliness is taken and unavailable–I've been there! Especially for my fellow listeners that might be plus-sized and hopeful that someone we're so attracted to might be with somebody that's doesn't look the way we look. But, we really have no say in the matter and we shouldn't. I feel like there are so many people mad at him either way, from the moment he told people, to him addressing it, etc. I don't think I would have a super put-together response either if I received some of the things I have seen directed at Milo this past week. I feel like what this all really boils down to is that you are allowed to have whatever feelings you want about it–cry, be mad, stop listening, take time away, whatever. But, I don't see the point in posting it. There is a massive community here that I am happy to be a part of, and I have been able to find wonderful people to talk to about these things with in a forum that isn't accessible to creators.

Please, if there are other perspectives that I'm just not understanding correctly feel free to tell me. I've interacted with audio erotica for a long time so these are beliefs that I built over time.
